  • Oh, Nick Wiggins is a H-U-G-E reason why I believe that the Shockers will seriously compete for the Valley title next season. Once HE gets acclimated to D-1 and Valley ball.. it's over. There will be weeping in the Valley, while Shockers rest easy.

So when Andrew Wiggins, easily #1 recruit in his class, with a bullet, is mentioned on every.single.nationally.televised WSU broadcast (ESPN, ESPN II, FOX etc.), try not to pull your hair out. Blame it on Jay Bilas.

    • It was huge to add Nick to our squad. As a rule of thumb, our better Juco players do good their Junior year and really finish strong their Senior Season after the learning curve of our System is grasped. In this case, I and hoping Early and Nick can be up to speed and the Shocks are hitting on all cylinders by Valley time. If it takes an extra Season to Dance again, then so be it. However, I am not discounting the possibility that with our talented, young but fiesty team, that we may come together and peak before our opponents in the Valley knows what hit them.

Thats the way I see it happening. All those teams in the valley are looking forward to no Ragland, Stutz, Kyles and Murry and what do they now have to contend with? A whole bunch of new faces that are Carl Hall clones (see quote from doug M about Carl and his defensive toughness) making life miserable as they know it.

        • Have nothing to add on Nick -- but didn't want his thread to get lost just because he is now signed. Really want to see him in action.

If you are talking about Doug McDermott's comments about Carl Hall, you can find it here.

                • Doug M. refers to Carl Hall as a tremendous defender and the player that played him the toughest. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed that Carl Hall gets to play this Season. Players like Wiggins coming in here may make us a more athletic team that can shoot the rock better we hope. However, I am wondering if we can rise up on defense overall as well to make another run for the Valley title, or at the very least a top 3 Valley team? Carl Hall will lead that charge if we get him back.

If you were, say, Illinois State, how would you like to see a defensive frontline of Hall, Early and Orupke? With Jake White substituting (ISUR antics in tourney did not faze him, for one.. that was right up his alley)?

*sigh* We'll REALLY need Nick Wiggins to hit the boards now (if Hall thing doesn't work out). Is it in him?

                    • Mr. Early is said to be a 'difference' maker on both sides of the court. Wiggins can sky very high and can really slash and score. Once he learns how to box out and play the D. better,-----Yikes!!! I really hope Hawkins makes it here too because he seems very impressive. Green can stroke it and play some D. And FVV? How do you keep him off the court? With all of said, we still need Senior leadership in D-Wlll and Carl Hall. You know what the best thing D-Will may have working for him? Ron Baker, and for both of them to challenge each other day in and day out. Both of them do so many things well and the competition will be fierce at all positions. What about Malcolm? He is fast, can penetrate, shoot the rock, and will be in folks face on the D.

2+ pages of that has little-to-nothing to do with Nick Wiggins. The rest of the topic was all instigated by a WSU fan (in this case, with KSU ties/fandom).

                            • We should all signup and turn that thread into KStates longest thread. We can keep it going forever
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Don't you think we have encroached on their board enough on this subject? I find it really pretty silly to repeat the same information over and over and over on another team's board just to irritate them.
