I hope we don't have two openings to do that. I'd be ok with just getting Wiggins.

I also would be surprised if there are two openings, although I think one is quite likely. The only way I see two is if Hawkins doesn't qualify.

My guess is that the coaches would be happy with either Wiggins or Patton and would probably take whichever is willing to commit first, then shape next year's team accordingly (just as we saw this year when it turned out that Ben Smith needed to be a 3/4 combo, was given that role, and handled it admirably). If it turns out that Hawkins doesn't qualify, then it's a different story, which is one of the reasons recruiting never stops.

4 out of 5 is a very high success rate for Jucos.

And it's not like Mantas was a miss. The kid could play and was just unlucky with injury.

That's exactly right. Marshall had some bad luck his first year here.

Glad to see Mantas has recovered and is playing professionally in Sweden, where he's a starter averaging 12/6 and shooting about 40% from three point land.

                  Ok, I'll say it....

Would it be that surprising to have 3 openings? Is it possible that we could be in big need of some players, and that is why we are all of a sudden seeing another influx of 2012 recruits? I wonder if Ellis will ask out of his LOI now that he knows there is a chance he might get to play here as a FR vs. sitting the bench?

It's possible... There are some questionmarks out there.

                    • Life throws all of us curveballs, I just want to enjoy this season, and the time and effort and blood and guts this team and especially these seniors have put out there. And the manner in which they have done it.

                      • Ellis always had a chance to play immediately, didn't he? I can't imagine those guys releasing him to come here, ever. I have no idea where skollies would come from, but it would appear that we are looking to add. I really don't see anybody I want to lose, but I'm not in the know, either.

Today's entry in the Understatement of the Year contest. Having two of your top recruits affected by crippling injury and death (!) is pretty much Biblical in terms of bad luck.

Huh? Do you have inside information about Bill Self going to the NBA or something? Whatever you're smoking, I hope you're enjoying it. And where would the three openings come from?

Edit: sorry to get diverted from Nick Wiggins (remember him?), by the way -- maybe we should get back to the topic at hand before we get even further afield.

Thank you for your wise suggestion.

My head was starting to spin....uncontrollably.
