  • Yes indeed, WstateU -- there's some seriously foolish and overheated speculation going on here. And the idea that someone might be a poor fit based on comments from a message board some of whose posters weren't even sure which guy was the visitor in question takes the cake.

Time for some nice slow deep breaths and a refill of the good old Prozac prescription.

    • By the way, according to PaulS this morning, Hawkins is not yet a qualifier:

Teddy's coach said the visit was "fine." FINE???? Not a lot of information or enthusiasm. We'll know soon enough.

It humors me when I see people can predict how a person feels by how they see them acting from a distance, or what they read in print, when they have never visited with them. You must be very wealthy people for your "powers".

          • I'm just going by what I've read on here and what I know about 3G's program. I don't know anything about this kid, and could really care less. I just know if you aren't passionately bought in, then you will probably find your way to the end of the bench or on a bus home. If "looking cool" (to quote BOBB) is important to him during a visit, then I'm afraid "looking cool" will probably be too important on the court, too. Just my 2 cents.

Or perhaps when making the biggest decision of his young life he is trying to remain objective. Getting caught up in the emotion is what causes some players to make bad decisions and end up quitting or transferring. He is not yet invested in the outcome of WSU athletics, so I don't expect him to carry the same enthusiasm we as fans carry.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I was thinking along your line of thought - feigning disinterest. It is a very common trait among some athletes.

When I was a kid, all of us were wide eyed and we hardly feigned disinterest. Times have changed.

I just woke up Ref and can't think yet. Meaning please.

I caught a glimpse of Teddy in the tunnel on Shockervision. He looked good to me and thought he dressed very nice. Thinking that Creighton is still in this is going with a real long shot at this point. I've been mostly concerned about Teddy qualifying. As thought, Paul S. confirms that after he signs whatever school will have to wait and see how he does in the classroom, and perhaps on his ACT. The staff obviously wants him bad. Since we were his last visit, I give the odds to the Shockers by a small amount.

Seeing the posticon you used, I'm going out on a limb and speculate that WSU has received a new commitment.

                        • Evaluation of Teddy by Triple Double Prospects:

Teddy is the 3rd ranked PF in Ohio's 2012 class. The two PF's ranked higher have committed to West Virginia and Michigan State. Over 30 players in Ohio's 2012 class have already committed to play D-1 basketball. Teddy's high school team, Dayton Dunbar is a powerhouse and his AAU team, Ohio Red won the AAU nationals.

I'm told Teddy Hawkins has signed with Wichita State. Shockers are practicing now, so we'll get more details later.
