This is a PERFECT example of why you, as the coach, let kids out of LOIs. I am not saying Dewitt would have worked out any better here, but when he expressed a desire to leave Southern Miss, the writing was on the wall.

He wasn't going to be happy at USM and this decision was inevitable. I hope he finds a happy home.

ESPN Insider adds Wichita State to the mix but only because of Coach Heiar. It doesn't sound like they have any info on WSU being interested at this time.

It looks like Keith DeWitt will stay at Southern Mississippi for the 2nd semester. Although DeWitt was granted his release to seek transfer elsewhere, USM's coach says there's still an outside possibility that DeWitt could return to the team.

I agree. DeWitt's situation seems very up in the air. I'm not ruling out the possiblity he will transfer at the end of the year as a walk on and then receive a scholarship in 2013.

I thought Keith would finally make it to Wichita for the USM/Shocker game but it's not going to happen. He was officially released from USM in August.

He is playing for DII University of Southern Indiana. I believe he got hurt after the first game. I'll have to check on his current status.

Edit: He had minor knee surgery. Should be playing again in a week or so.
