Trop is spot on. We the SN-ers come here first and foremost. I really like Landry and Tyler Brown. However, another solid big man would not hurt my feelers. April should fill in the remaining piece or pieces of the Shocker puzzle for next Season in terms of recruits. Will we sign 1, 2, or 3??? The following recruiting session in the Fall will be huge with 5 more Seniors graduating. This will be a reload session. Stay tuned.

I still don't understand the fascination by so many with bringing in another big man this year. We already have 4 and though some say we won't know if certain players will be ready or able to help, bringing in yet another would be in the same situation.
I'd much rather get a wing or someone we'll end up redshirting.
But that's me...Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.

EO can not be counted on.
Carl Hall is going to be good IMO...but what if he isn't, and what if his health issues come back.
Jake White will eventually be a player to be counted on, but he will be a freshman.
Gotta be prepared.

And as Subgold said, "bringing in yet another would be in the same situation." What if we brought in a 6-7 freshman rated as a top 500 player? Someone that was skilled but thin and played at a small high school and averaged maybe 14 points and 6 rebounds. Would that make you think, "now we are set!!" What about a 6-5 JUCO transfer that averaged 9 points and 5 rebounds? Would you feel like our big man situation was much improved?

What if we got a skinny but skilled 6-7 190 lb HS PF from a small high school that averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds or a 6-5 JC PF that averaged 9 and 5? Would that make you feel that our post situation was much improved?

I think everyone is having these thoughts because:
1) There are some doubts about Stutz playing 25 minutes a game. His range is fair to real good, and people just don't know where in that range he will fall on a consistent basis.
2) People were more content for offensive purposes when Durley was in the game, so they have a tendency to want another center, and keep Stutz as the backup. Orukpe is the biggest question mark our program has ever had in 20 years, noone knows how it will turn out. He could go from a 4 year bust to a superstar.
3) I think pretty much everyone expects Hall to play a lot, and that he will be good.
4) I think they are also optismistic about White, but he will just be a freshman, and freshman take a little while.
5) Wessel and Cotton are kind of question marks, and a wait and see attitude, although I feel pretty good about Wessel.
We need another 3, one that can play right away, and can hit the 3. He could play behind Smith. I feel that Smith has earned the starting 3 spot for next year. (Wessel is suppose to not be too good with his 3 shot, he needs to work on that).
If Hall ends up playing some 5 (see #2 above), then we will need another 4 (PF). And somehow a guard always sneaks into the recruiting ranks, so the 2nd player recruited could be a guard, who could redshirt (Cotton would be a candidate to redshirt).

I'm happy with the roster as it is and any addition is whatever. I don't care if it's someone who will contribute next year or not as next year isn't my biggest concern. It's the next year or two after that.
PG - Rags (SR), DWill (JR), Murry (SR), Cotton (FR)
SG - Kyles (SR), Murry (SR), DWill (JR), Cotton/Wessel (FR), TRich (SO)
SF - Murry (SR), Smith (SR), Kyles (SR), Wessel (FR), TRich (SO)
PF - Hall (JR), White (FR)
C - Stutz (SR), Ehimen (JR)
The rotation for the upcoming season looks pretty strong to me. And the youngsters are going to have to play at some point or they'll never be ready. It's also very possible that White could be the only FR to play leaving us with very little experience returning in '12.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Maybe some of you other old guys remember how Ralph Miller taught Gene Wiley and nate Bowman how to play the 5 position. I believe that EO has infinitely more raw athletic ability that either of those two. Wiley hadn't touched a basketball until he was a junior in high school, IIRC. Watching him the first 2.5 years was brutal. A Fould every 30 seconds. Ralph had hold his arms above his shoulder while the FT shooter was shooting, just to try to reduse his fouling. He turned out to be a pretty fair ball player. I have huge hopes for EO. If I were coaching him, I'd get every film of Bill Russell and educate the young man."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

When EO's not practicing, he needs 'Basketball Jones' ringing in his ears.
("Basketball Jones" is a 1974 animated short film based on the Cheech and Chong song "Basketball Jones featuring Tyrone Shoelaces")
Barry White RIP!
"See I am a victim of a Basketball Jones, I take my basketball everywhere; I even put my basketball under my PILLOW!"
Space Jam: Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture [SOUNDTRACK] Lyrics:Basketball Jones, I got a Basketball Jones Got a Basketball Jones, oh baby, oo-o...
[Chris Rock - singing in falsetto] :yahoo:
Basketball Jooooones
I got a Basketball Jooooones
I got a Basketball Jooooones, oh baby
Ohhhhhhhhhhh, oh!
[Singers sing in background]
[(Barry White) Chris Rock]
(Jones)
Hey, that's Barry White! (an obsession)
(A burning desire) Barry, you want some chicken?
(The undeniable passion)
Aww, you ??? that singin' stuff
(The love, of someone are some thing)
Y'know you want some chicken!
(Yes, he was a victim...of a Basketball Jones)
In fact, I was a baddest...dribbler in the whole world
(Then one day, his mother bought him a basketball)
And I love that basketball! I took that basketball everywhere I went
You know what? That basketball was like a basketball to me!
C'MON, you cheerleaders..
["Cheerleading" singers sing - Chorus]
Basketball Jones
I got a Basketball Jones (happily)
I got a Basketball Jones ohhh baby ohhhhhh
Wait a minute, y'all not En Vouge!
Where the hell is En Vogue?!
Somebody told me En Vogue was gonna be here
I guess y'all'll do (Yeah...)
So what y'all doin' after the game? C'mon!
(His basketball was like a member of his owwwwn family)
In fact, better looking than my brother Tony
Didn't owe me money, and didn't piss in a bed!
And after the game, I always took a shower wit' my basketball
Every now and then, the basketball gonna pinch my butt
But I didn't mind, 'cause my and my basketball had guts, clean fun
See I am a victim of a Basketball Jones, I'll take my basketball everywhere
I'll even put my basketball under the PILLOW!
(Maybe that's why you couldn't sleep at night)
["Chorus" starts again as Chris and Barry overlaps]
SING IT! SING IT! SING IT LIKE YA WANNA!!
(Yeah) Eh-eh-eh, act like Puffy's in the audience
(Sing it out!) Would y'all SHUT UP?!
(Ohhhhh, soooounds sooo sweet) B-Barry, don't encourage 'em!
They got a Basketball Jones
See I like to PLAY it, I know a thang...yeah, heh-heh
What kinda Basketball Jones y'all got?! (sing it out!)
I see y'all runnin' after a lime zone
YEAH! (YEAH!)
I see ya chasin' Penny around!
["cheerleaders" and later Barry raps]
Hey, there's a Basketball Jones
Basketball Jones's in the hoouse
[Chris Rock overlaps]
Michael Jordan! MICHAEL JORDAN!
LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, THE MAN WE CAME OUT TO SEE!
Michael Jordan...why don't you sing?
[Michael Jordan]
Sing? I don't sing, that's the other "M.J."
[Chris Rock]
Ohhh, okay, I support you
I go to all your games, and you can't sing a lil' song for a brotha!
I hope you go bald! Oh, you already bald!
[Chris Rock - singing in falsetto]
Basketball Jooooones, c'mon!
I got a Basketball Jooooones (Tear it up, Chris)
I got a Basketball Jooooones, oh baby (Eat it up!)

[Chorus w/ Barry White singing in background]
[Chris Rock]

I guess that was me-e-e-e!
(Baby, baby, baby...it's a craving)
