teams in the ncaa tournament that were in a BB game

    2006 19 berths
    2007 17 berths
    2008 15 berths
    2009 12 berths
    2010 11 berths

What the hell good is this tournament doing for the have nots? How are these NCAA tournaments berths declining at such a rate.

Maybe Im wrong ....I dont get it
Yeah, all the while the pool of teams in the BB has been increasing. This year there are a record 114 teams in the thing.

That's 1/3 of all the teams that play division 1 basketball. And unfortunately its not the top 1/3.

Having said that, the number of berths should go up this year because there are 13 conferences participating and each one gets an automatic berth.

      • I say get out of it...that statistic is a real eye opener.

If it was such a good event, teams like Virginia, Oklahoma, LSU and Oregon would be complaining about not being in it.

Generally, I'm a mild supporter of this event, but those stats are eye-popping. Unless better competition can be swayed into this, its losing steam quickly.

On another note, adding VCU to our schedule is a very good thing. I've been an admirer of their program for years. In this year's example, we got a great potential outcome (with a win, of course).

It really sets up nice for next year, as we would have games vs. UNLV and Utah State at home, Tulsa and VCU on the road, and another potential bracketbusters game on the road. Seems to me that Gregg Marshall is listening to those wanting us to schedule like-opponents. It just took 5 years to get there.

            • Just like to point out that WSU got bent and VCU won't be till 2012 for return.

So in a way WSU basically just had the return game slid a year for some reason. Won't get one this year and instead of getting both Utah state and VCU next year WSU gets just Utah State with VCU the next.

I like playing Utah State and VCU but have I mentioned I hate bracket busters :D

Wouldn't VCU be the following year since the return game is now 2 years later?

                • VCU fans seem like real a-holes, especially about Carl Hall. They think they're going to embarrass us on our home court.

All BB return games were pushed two years out so that a team didn't get two home games or two away games in the same year. Now, on years we get a home BB game, there will be an away return game and vice-versa.

They seem alright, they fight about starting new threads just like we do.

Can we get a ruling from our GMU bros?

VCU fans, dooshy or not dooshy?

                        Dooshy!

Well, to be fair, their fans are pretty much like the rest of us; They've got their loud mouth jerks, but also quite a few reasonable folks who just love their team. Unfortunately, it often seems the jerks are often the most frequent posters.

You'll have your hands full with the Rams. They are playing well.

                        • Looking at projections for RPI, SOS, and other tournament stuff; adding VCU has considerably boosted our resume. As far as an at-large goes, we're still on the outside looking in, but just by adding VCU we've jumped a good 5-6 spots.
