No it won't. Conference doesn't mean a hill of beans to the committee outside of scheduling.

    • Well GMU looks to be the better team and the team more likely to finish strong according to kenpom, but i am more then happy. VCU will provide another opportunity to sell ourselves and to add a w....

      • I think that it's interesting that for a one bid conference, we wind up with three games on ESPN II in their biggest time slots.

If the Valley wasn't producing the best teams these games wouldn't be on ESPN II.

Who are we competing against for these TV slots? The CAA and.....? I honestly can't come up with one more halfway decent conference.

          • This event doesn't exist without the Valley. Take away our top five teams and it's nothing.

Agree completely, but that's not exactly an accomplishment.

The Committee, biased as they may be, doesn't totally rely on RPI. They don't get sequestered for 3 days just to regurgitate what a computer spits out. Conference championships do count in people's minds and it will carry weight. That's one of those intangibles that throws a 30 out and a 40 in. It's not only numbers. Call it an "Eye Test" item.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

                    • Gosh I hope this team does well and wins this BB game. Given our piss poor history in BB games, a win would certainly help get ride of the sour taste in my mouth about Bracket Busters.

                      Utah State - Loss
                      Cleveland - Win
                      No. AZ - Loss
                      App State - Loss
                      GMU - Loss

                      • Rats! I was hoping we'd see you guys again.

And now your VCU match up presents a dilemma for me; I hate them and like you guys, but naturally it's better for us if we beat them and they beat you. Just like you'd like to beat UNI and have them beat us!

                        Hmmm...well, that's college hoops, isn't it?

Good luck the rest of the way, Shocks!

Shox kick azz in return games though, lol

I think 6-0 but can't recall AP return game.

Return wins over Miami of o, Cleve, gmu, nau, app st, and I think AP.

I think the CAA could say the same. On balance, though, it's good for both leagues.

Ain't no eye test involved. The most important number is AVERAGE RPI WIN. Ours is 193.Aside from that the committee sees W/L, SOS, and winning % rank, as well as wins broken down by RPI range. THEY DON'T SEE CONFERENCE. They don't even see conference finish. It's about the numbers and how WSU stacks up against other teams.

Want a hint? WE DON'T. We might not have a bad loss, but an OOC-SOS of 343, an ARPIW of 193, and all those little red boxes in RPIs 1-100 mean one thing, LOU OR BUST.
