Yip, in fact it is even colder. You will need to wear mittens and a hat. Players have been issues polypropylene black and gold long underwear just for this game.

Don't know, but I remember at the Levitt one game where a couple of Hurricane cornered Gary Cundiff and out of nowhere came X. Needless to say the 2 Tulsa players quickly exited the area.
Center Bruce Vanley was one of the Tulsa players. Vanley backed off.

I was at a game in the old fairgrounds in '76. The court was placed over the rodeo dirt surface, made the old round house look pretty upscale!

Late in the game something happened that made a TU player go ballistic, don't recall who. I think he got 4 techs, I just remember Cal Bruton making 8 or 10 free throws in a row and I think we won by about 25 pts.

Man, the LSU game had so many surprises at the end, what's next? Aaron Ellis leaving the ground at the free throw line for a monstrous dunk with 6 seconds left on the clock in this one??????

            Shockers - 76
            Hurriwho - 68

Anyone rem Billy Tubbs's Oklahoma team getting spanked at Tulsa on national tv,andthen going to the center of the court and pounding on the floor. He said he would never play there again

Haven't seen them play, but their schedule is less than stellar. How on earth does Tulsa play AT Northridge and AT Little Rock? Remember when they were too good for the Valley? That being said, at face value I'd trade their CUSA schedule for our Valley schedule.

Still, not a blockbuster matchup. We're putting these guys in IBA? What, the bookers for IBA couldn't get Molly Hatchet? I hope all the old farts that remember when this was a rivalry get their fix. I used to square off with this kid all the time in Jr. High. He was a pretty tough and he got the better of me more than I did of him. I see him now from time to time: taking my order at Spangles. I never feel the need to take him out to the parking lot for fisticuffs just for old times sake. I think our divergent life circumstances are enough.

Just last year Tulsa had a 20 win season and had a player taken in the NBA draft. Starting the series makes sense for both schools. As for playing in IBA, who did you want for this game?

Hey, Badass, this old fart wholeheartedly welcomes Tulsa back. They were a great rivalry and the one school, year and year out, that we loved to beat. They may be a little down this year, but Tulsa always bounces back.

Now, let's beat the hell out of them once again.

I can't remember all the facts I learned about IBA when I took a tour there back in april.
But, they will be playing over ice. I know it costs much more to build the ice up than it does to maintain it's current thickness.
Somewhere in the 10's of thousands to create the ice.
Ice below the court, as many you probably already know, will/can cause condensation and slickness on the court.
Seems like many of these games played over ice have around 3 random slips/falls. i hope no one gets hurt.

this might have been brought up somewhere else (but i haven't seen it), does anyone know what entrance the students will need to use? or time it opens up? hah, or where the student section will be located? I keep hopin' Sullentrop will blurb about it at the bottom of one of his articles!

                          as for a prediction.... 70-60

i hope the crowd has energy!

I expect a spirited crowd after the amazing Stutzbeater, combined with a new, exciting environment for a game, IBA's first ever collegiate basketball game, and good ol' Tulsa is in town.

Everybody needs to be sent into Christmas with a smile.

                            WSU - 80
                            Tulsa - 66

I guess I am just turning into a bitchy little whining girl in my old age.

For all the talk of the "great" WSU fans....more than 4000 tickets remain for this game.

Will there be more at the first Thunder game that opened the arena?

While I understand there is no Joan of Arc Bluejay Discount plan to sit in the upper bowl (instead of $Free-$10 tickets try finding one for less than $26 plus the insufferable and punitive "service fees"...fee for what service exactly? I am doing all the work.....can you imagine a service fee to shop at Walmart?) and it's 4 days away from Christmas in a terrible local economy where it was recently announced unemployment has jumped to 8.6%, still I ask, where is all the great fan support?

I remember from my tour that they specifically put in the underground system so that they could remove the ice and replace it quickly so that they could accomodate basketball, concerts, etc...
