I'm guessing a sellout with a lot of empty seats. Some people are mad about the tickets and others probably just don't want to deal with going to IBA.

ADES and SMG should have done a full court press on the marketing side of this game if Wichita hopes to host an NCAA Men's tournament game at IBA. A sell-out of this game could help Wichita tremendously when selection cities are chosen.

Let's hope it is sold out.

WSU could probably promote it, despite it being at IBA. I don't know exactly who was in charge of it, but it's failed on many fronts. I'm kinda surprised it has sold as well as it has without any marketing of it at all.

Another swing and miss by the WSU athletic department.

I also hope it gets sold out. We need to show NCAA committee members it can be done. It would also look good for PE to see.

I hope it's a rabid atmosphere tomorrow and the boys give us something to scream about.

For all the talk of the "great" WSU fans....more than 4000 tickets remain for this game.

Will there be more at the first Thunder game that opened the arena?

While I understand there is no Joan of Arc Bluejay Discount plan to sit in the upper bowl (instead of $Free-$10 tickets try finding one for less than $26 plus the insufferable and punitive "service fees"...fee for what service exactly? I am doing all the work.....can you imagine a service fee to shop at Walmart?) and it's 4 days away from Christmas in a terrible local economy where it was recently announced unemployment has jumped to 8.6%, still I ask, where is all the great fan support?
Your point is valid Doc. Despite Tulsa's downturn, it's still a good game and the first collegiate game in the new building. It would be pathetic to see the Thunder outsell WSU basketball for an opening game.

FWIW, the service fees are convenience fees for not having to get your lazy ass.. :D out to the box office to buy the tickets. Unfortunately, this is standard now in the industry.

It could be worse. The Tulsa game's service fees are $4-$5 per ticket. For most concerts and other events, they are typically $10-$15 per ticket..

So, it most likely will be sold out and the marketing department possibly saved a ton of revenue by not running up adverting expenses for a game that would most likely be sold out anyways.

That sounds like being fiscally responsible to me. Or lucky. Either way I don't see how that's a swing and miss?

Maybe we should all wait to comment and see if it sells out first. 1400 tickets is a lot to sell in 24 hours. It can be done. It will be interesting.

But yes, I would say WSU has lucked out. It's not like they're hurting financially.

Now if someone was mean - they would take a picture of the crowd tomorrow at IBA and post it on the Tulsa forum board. ;-)

                              Really?

Seems to me Shocker fans are willing to travel just about anywhere for a game. Why would they NOT go to Intrust?

Looks like the first marketing I have seen of this game. An email about 24 hours before game time. They must have had $0 budget for Tulsa game marketing.

Maybe it was an experiment to see if they could sell out in a bad economy, with expensive tickets ($102, $52, $26) and NO marketing.
