I don't have any problem with fans supporting their schools regardless of the situation, but I have to think there's a significant amount of Jack Daniels in the Kool-Aid this guy is drinking.
I got a good chuckle out of it too.
You know Matty P definitely had to be on Jack with his COY selection..
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

R.E. Echenique being the best Valley newcomer, without a doubt, as Matt Perault says: I liked the way Clevin Hannah's numbers actually went UP, from juco to D1. Marshall gets it, he knows what he's doing, and I'm not worried about Ragland coming in at PG.
Now, Connecticut, who hasn't missed the NCAA tournament in consecutive seasons for literally decades, won't take being made into a joke or laughingstock just laying down.
Matty tweets "I'm really scared at my second place finish in the MVC for Creighton. That team we saw tonight. ..is not good."
I had them 2nd also. Matty has convinced me to drop them to 5th.
I saw them as a 5th place team all along, behind WSU, MSU, UNI, and Bradley.
BTW, I noticed Wragge (CU's only proven 3-point threat) started the game, but only played 12 minutes. What do you want to bet that McDermott is figuring out that Wragge simply can't play defense?
"Cotton scared me - I left him alone." - B4MSU (Bear Nation poster) in reference to heckling players
May as well post an exhibition outcome from tonight if anyone is interested...
Creighton - 79
Northern St - 67
Doug McDermott : 18pts (6/9 fg, 6/6 FT), 7 rebs, 1 TO, 1 Block in 20 mins
Antoine Young: 16pts (4/7 fg, 8/10 FT), 6 assists, 3 TO, 1 steal in 34 mins
Kenny Lawson: 10pts (3/8 fg, 4/6 FT), 5 rebs, 1 assist, 2 TO, 2 blocks in 20 mins
Team stats:
CU: 49.1% FG (27/55), 25% 3pt (4/16), 80% FT (21/26), 32 rebs, 16 assists on 27 baskets, 14 turnovers
Northern St: 42.4% FG (25/59), 40.9% 3pt (9/22), 57.1% FT (8/14), 36 rebs, 15 assists on 25 baskets, 22 turnovers
Yes, that's right. Creighton just got out-rebounded by a team who doesn't start anyone taller than 6-7 and without a player on the roster heavier than 220lbs. They didn't do anything to dispel concerns about their 3-point shooting and I don't think that they will be able to rely on getting that many turnover or getting to the line that frequently against more athletic opponents. I'm not saying that CU can't improve, but I wasn't sold on them and this does nothing to think my analysis was wrong.
CU's FT defense is tremendous, 57.1%.

How did the Pre-season MVC POY get out-scored and out-rebounded by a true freshmen in his first college game when they played the same minutes? Hmm...

Maybe because he was looking to get the new guys involved?
Let's not read to much into presesaon games. Remember, we only beat Newman by like, what, 10 points last year?
Looks like CU is going to be a dog in OOC. Then they pick up Echinique just in time for conference play and improve drastically by having a total of 2 contributing front court players on the entire roster instead of 1.
That will result in making the entire Valley look bad when CU is a dog in OOC and competitive in Valley play.
This makes 3 years in a row CU has done that. It's like if it can't be them, they will make sure no one from the Valley gets an at large.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
Not a glowing start for the beakers. In addition to hanging on by a thread tonight against N. AZ, they only beat Alabama St. on Friday by 14.
Other MVC action:
E. Kentucky-64
Ind. St.-59 (OT)...Latham the only Syc in double figures with 16...ISU got beat with EK shooting 40% from the field...looks like the early lead for bottom dweller in the ole' MVC.
Ill. St.-92
SIU-Ed.-64...Carmichael with 18 points/5 reb in only 13 minutes...typical bird noncon start under Jankovich.

That was a bad loss for IN St. I really expected more from them.
