  • Those Kenpom stats are always interesting.

David Kyles, Joe Ragland, Ben Smith and Garrett Stutz are all in or close to top 100 in Offensive Rating. JT is no slouch.

Look at Ehimen's FTRate.....118.8 leads the country (if you qualify). Ehimen is 228.6.

I realize he has some deficiencies, but he has to get more minutes. It's foul him, or he will change the molecular structure of the rim.

139 pages of talk, 3 field goals made in his career, and nobody wants to let him shoot.

I am taking partial credit for that.

I don't care if they won the NCAA championship then went on and beat the Lakers for fun. They lost at home to Evansville THIS YEAR.

      This +1000. Smoke and mirrors.

      • Shocking that Tom Keegan, of the Lawrence Journal-World, does not have the Shockers ranked.

Most voters don't have us ranked. In fact, last week there were more voters (8, I think) ranking us than this week after two blowout wins. That includes Jeff ******* who had us at 23. (We should never take his ballot/polls seriously again.)

          • Didn't see it mentioned, but Texas Southern gave Baylor all they wanted last night.

TSU led most of the first half and it was basically a 1 or 2 possession game the entire 2nd half.

68-60 final but it was a lot closer than that.

By the way, besides murdering people, Baylor has done NOTHING that warrants a ranking compared to us.

I am NOT saying WSU should be ranked (I don't think we should be ranked by the way) just that there is nothing that says Baylor has done more than WSU has so far that warrants a higher ranking today.

            NOTHING.

I will await a legal response.

Neutral court wins over Florida State and Washington State makes the rest of their season OK I guess.

              • Maybe people aren't ranking us this week even though we won because they're ranking other teams, who won other games, instead. I doubt they're leaving the slot blank.

I love the Shockers but I don't think it to be some terrible injustice, or even ignorance, everytime someone thinks another team is better.

I think a more interesting discussion is whether rankings should/do reflect only season-to-date performance. If Duke had lost their opener, no matter to whom, you could argue in the first poll that they had done nothing yet to deserve a ranking, but if I asked you who the best teams in the country are I can't imagine you'd leave them off the list despite that loss. On the other hand, you have a phenomenon where teams always always always drop after a loss. I think there are definitely times when the top team loses a fluke game but is still the best team in the country.

Personally, I think the rankings should be something like this: If you needed one team to play in the Space Jam to save Earth, and you don't know the style of the opponent or anything like that, who would you choose first, who would you choose second, and so on?

To alleviate some of that, I'd like to see the game do something that BCS football actually does right...don't release rankings until week 8.

                      • Voters who know how polls work:
Jeffrey Martin (Texas, used to write for the Eagle)
                        Paul Klee (Illinois)
                        Nick Jezierny (Boise)
                        Michael Rothstein (Michigan)

                        Voters who don't:
                        Joshua Parrott (Louisiana)
                        John Feinstein (D.C)
                        Jeff ******* (Massachusetts)

We received 1 new voter and lost 3 voters. I'm perfectly fine with us not being ranked now, but I think it's stupid to put us up one week and take us off for winning two games by double digits. That makes absolutely no sense. I find it interesting that 2 out of 3 of the voters who dropped us are "big-time." I'm sure they'll put us back into their polls in a few weeks even if we don't "beat someone of note."

                          • I'm also in the crowd of not necessarily thinking the Shocks are Top 25 worthy at this time, but wondering the logic of a few voters dropping WSU after a 34 point pounding and a 16 point road win.

Hard to respect those poll experts.

                              • 7 top 25 teams have already lost today. 18th team is down by double digits. No. 22 won by just 3 at home. A win Sunday ought to have WSU knocking at the door.
