Don't be surprised if many or even most of the poll participants already have their ballots filled out and submitted prior to the end of our game.

        • Teams #17, #18, #19, #21, #22, #25 and 3 receiving votes teams ahead of us have lost so far this week. (AP Poll.) A win tomorrow would get us close.

Screw Space Jam. Who would be your first choice to take on THIS team?

            • I seriously couldn't give a damn.

I want the guys to beat Missouri State tomorrow night and leave the gym healthy.

What some group of mostly wannabe athletes think of the Shocks couldn't bother me less.

If we take care of business, we'll have the chance to prove where we belong against the best.

Hate to tell ya doc, but it does make a difference especially in this day and age in college basketball. Because if we are ranked, we get noticed by ESPN more and get our highlights on sports center, which in part helps a ton in recruiting.

                • Yesterday, at least 4 teams in the top 20 lost.

St. John's, Vanderbilt, S. Florida (?), Michigan State.

I don't usually follow the polls closely. I just have a vague idea about the rankings.

Plus, if we manage to stay in the top 25--even at #24 or #25, and we go down in the finals of the MVC tourney, our chance of an at-large are MUCH better I think. Granted that scenario is unlikely, but it doesn't hurt to have that ranking going into that game or even the MVC tourney.

                    • Of course the teams that beat those ranked ahead of us will probably leap frog over WSU. Gonna be tough to crack the top 25 given we can't do alot to open the nations eyes and really make them feel we deserve to be in the top 25. If we win tonight that will HELP because it seems that this game has generated a minimal amount of interest in the national media. It would help even more if we could find a way to beat Missouri St by 15 or more...which I doubt will happen.

                      • Actually many teams that won probably won't leap frog, it would seem to me. Or lower ranked teams were beaten by higher ranked teams.

The following is based on the AP poll. I realize there are teams like Louisville that are not ranked in the AP poll but are ranked in the ESPN poll.

                        For example,

UNLV lost to higher ranked BYU this week, and now has three losses.

Vanderbilt lost to South Carolina, which has four losses, isn't receiving any votes and has a loss to FURMAN!

Memphis lost to unranked Tennessee, who isn't receiving any votes b/c of all of their bad losses

UCF lost to Houston, which isn't receiving any votes.

Michigan State now has five losses and lost to Penn State, which isn't receiving any votes.

K-State lost to OSU which isn't receiving any votes and KSU now has
                        four losses, including to UNLV.

Georgetown had three losses, FOR THE WEEK, and now has four on the season. They will be out of the rankings, but will probably still get a few votes.

Cincinatti lost for the first time to a very good Villanova team. But that was Cincy's first game against a decent opponent. They will be out of the rankings.

Louisville might get back in the rankings, but they will have a loss to Drexel.

Minnesota barely beat a terrible Indiana team.

Temple may sneak back in but they have three losses. We'll see how their game against SLU goes today.

Wisconsin beat Michigan this week, but still has three losses.

Baylor had two wins, against TTech and Morgan State, but still has three losses.

Florida had two wins this week against Ole Miss and Rhode Island, both at home but still has three losses.

Butler lost at Milwaukee last Monday and has five losses.

BTW, I might need to substitute "who" or "whom" for which; apologies if that is a grammar mistake.

We were at 41 earlier today.

MSU drops from 45 to 49.
