That's it! Louisiana Tech didn't sound right, thanks for the assist, SF.

True, those are good guidelines, but I'm not sure that's what GM was looking for this year. He didn't quite know what he had this year, so he was going to get some guaranteed wins to make sure the chances at NCAA/NIT were very good.

I just wanted to highlight that "buy" games don't necessarily mean we give up quality opponents (as we have seen in the past), and until we see how NEXT year finishes (ala opponents RPI), I would suggest holding off judging the non-con schedule.

Next year is a totally different situation with a veteran heavy team. Coach should want to challenge them early and often.

I'm going to go out on a limb and make a big prediction... I think we will have KSU on the schedule next year. HCGM was making some interesting comments on his show tonight. Things like "we're working on somethings I can't elaborate on because all the t's aren't crossed and i's aren't dotted on the contract". He obviously couldn't say who or where, but it sounded like it could be a big deal. And he's already publicly mentioned the Maui tournament, Tulsa, LSU, 4 buy-in games etc. And we all know that leaves us two games short and he's never said a word about those other two games. I think there's going to be something big at Intrust next year with one of those two games. And we know KSU wants to play at Intrust. Just putting two and two together...

I can see where it would be easier to get a 1 and 1 if the 1 in Wichita is at IBA instead of CKA. That wouldn't be quite the same as on on-campus game, but if that's the only way to get better teams in here, I'd go for it every day.

If we added KSU to what we've already got next year - we'd have a pretty salty OOC SOS.

That would be groovy to play a team such as K-State downtown. Coach Marshall does seem quite confident in next Season's schedule. The timing of a more demanding schedule seems impeccable as we continue to upgrade our Program. The improvement of Mr. Williams at the point guard position along with a new recruit (still to be announced) will shore up the loss of #3. We will also finally have our fair share of Juniors and Seniors for a change. I really do hope the NCAA allows teams to take new recruits on an August Overseas Tour. What a great way to jump start our team for preparing for a banner Season.

It is a grave error to play any team at iba as a home game. Neutral yes, tourney games yes, but home game no. Rest assured at least 1/3 to 1/2 would be purple or crimson/blue. The last time we played KSU at home there was plenty of purple and it was enough to negate the "home superiority" factor.

Keep in mind, that KSU game was before 95% of seats were spoken for by season ticket holders. But you are right that a game at IBA against KU/KSU would have a significant number of their fans, especially if it was "neutral", which I assume would not be included in the season ticket package.

So that would be more like a 0.5 and 1. It sure makes us look desperate if we have to do the deal that way. We probably are desperate, but still. It just feels wrong.

I attended the last game vs. KSU in Manhattan, and there were plenty of Shocker fans in Manhattan.

I thin it should be a home game in IBA, where we control the tickets and revenue, rather than a neutral game.

Who knows, other than we all know there will be much negotiating leading up to any contract to play. It would not surprise me at all if KSU demanded a "neutral" game, opening up all seats on a first-come, first-served basis with them getting a significant portion of the gate. Of course, WSU could (and should) refuse such demands.

I was hearing about a series with WSU earlier this year of 1 at Intrust, 1 at Sprint and 1 at the Bram. Lately I have not heard that but rather a game against Alabama at Intrust for next year as we owe them a neutral site game and we are already playing in the CBE at Sprint next year. Maybe it will be a game in the Bram next year and then Intrust and Sprint in the following years. I do believe that our new administration is much more positive about playing WSU than the old was. There was bad blood there.

                                No thanks.

We can get better programs with that offer.
