Dear quality USU fans visiting our fine forum,

We hear that you have very solid home court fan support and energy. That's a point of pride for you, and we understand and can empathize with that. However, you probably need to realize that you are playing a program with a fairly equal level of fan support and enthusiasm.

There is a laundry list of quotes and quips from BCS and non-BCS visiting coaches, staff, and players commenting on the noise and atmosphere we produce at our own Koch Arena. Most reference the opinion that their time at Koch Arena was the loudest college basketball experience they've ever been a part of. Additionally, while our arena's are of equal capacity (Koch- 10,506, Spectrum- 10,270), Wichita State consistently draws a larger crowd.

Below are the official NCAA attendance figures for the past 10 seasons, the larger numbers on the left are WSU figures:

2008- 10,478 vs. 9,077

Prior to 2004 our program was coming off of 20 years of pure ineptitude, hence the lower draws for WSU. Ever during our time in the "desert" - complete with multiple, single-digit win seasons - we generally still averaged ~7,500.

Please don't take this post as a gesture of disrespect, as I'm just trying to lend some perspective.

I do wonder if WSU will get some steals while USU players are reading the flash cards. It seems like an opportunity for Hannah and Murry to pick up some steals :D (or fouls :( ) as USU sets up its offense.

There was a team I think from Texas Southern or some other Texas school that used cards for their plays here a few years ago. It seemed strange to me at the time, because I had never seen that before.

i can understand talking smack when posters from other teams come on and talk it first but when they are being nothing but respectful, there really is no need for it. ever the tool you are.

The time and place will push this pairing under the radar a bit, and that's unfortunate. The Shockers currently reside on our "First Four Out" list despite a victory over Northern Iowa, in large part because of a No. 330 nonconference schedule ranking. Utah State (InsideRPI No. 54) can help rectify that deficiency, but only if Wichita pulls out a win. My sense is that the winner of this game stays in the at-large conversation -- the Aggies also have a win over BYU, after all -- and the loser will be left only the automatic qualifier route.
