Feel free to point out the last coach "promoted" to a BCS school, who was hired based on success in the regular season WITHOUT success in the post season? For instance, has anyone like Jank gotten a bigtime job?
Mark Turgeon does not get the A&M job without the sweet 16 run. Jankovich isn't getting the next level without postseason success. You advance by winning in the dance. And, fwiw, Gregg Marshall is in NO danger, ZERO-NONE, NO danger of not having his contract extended or rolled over to 8-10 years in the foreseeable future at $1million+. The trend is up, nobody thinks we're going to be anything but good in the foreseeable future, the kids are graduating, and the program is clean.
Scheduling for job security at WSU is moot at this moment in time.
