  • My understanding is the Drake girls got the gym early, so our time was before that and coach didn't want to get the guys up that early.

YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE of this crappy conference and its 2 bit programs.

Gee Doc, you are starting to sound like Vic Damone's brother, Piss N Moan. LOL

What conference would you like us to join, or how should the MVC be fixed? I believe you will find at least one "Drake" in every conference!

I'm not Doc, but inasmuch as scheduling is so deifficult because of arenas predetermined dates and all, once a date is set for any MVC event, the host team must make the game facility available to the visiting team for at least on hour in the four hours time period immediately preceding gametime. If somebody has to relinquish, let it be the firemen or the girls' volleyball practice, whatever. The game should include the four hours prior to tipoff.

And... I had it DVR'd and it was still painful - even though I used fast forward most of the game.

Chrisman really needs to go with Tim Higgins to the rest home. The game is much too fast for them. 8)
There's a comment that actually MEANS something.

On a side note, can anyone tell me what was going on just after the game ended? I heard what sounded like another game....horn etc

          Enquiring minds want to know.
There was some kind of a police department vs fire department basketball game after the DU-WSU game.

ShockRef......was Chrisman the guy with the bald spot in back? He was making some very strange calls (both ways) all game.
          Yes it was.

You're right - he made equally strange calls on both sides of the ball.

He has a propensity to make an inordinate amount of traveling calls.

          In HS, that's ok.
But in college, the players a lot quicker and even though it may look funny, a lot of times it's not a violation.

He worked the MSU/CU game tonight and absolutely blew a travel call with 30 seconds to go in a 1 point game.
Fortunately for him, Curtis Shaw bailed him out by signaling that MSU had called a time out prior to his phantom call.

          That's all for now. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

The way he was calling things, it was like he thought he was getting paid by how many times he blew his whistle. Same thing tonight in the CU-MSU game. Definitely time for him to hang it up.

It was obvious that this team needed shoot around----if you didn't want to do it at 5:30am (which is pretty pitiful of DU to allow us that only time), find a gym.

To me...this gave the sign to our boys that you're good enough that you dont need shoot around.
This is pathetic. Not sure its a sign to our boys or not, they should be better than that. But I feel it should not be allowed to force a visiting conference team to have shoot around that early. They need to be able to make the schedule open for the visiting team and this should be a league rule for every team. I see where Doc is coming from on this.

Sully! You out there? How about a little investigative reporting? Checking with the Valley office to find out exactly what the rules, if any, are with this. If DU broke with protocal on this issue, they need to be called out for it.

                • I missed the postgame coach's interview, because I had to take a timeout from the Shockers after that debacle on Saturday. Does anyone remember what HCGM had to say about the game?

The only thing I remember him saying is it was like trying to coach zombies.

                    • After a couple of days to cool off, I must say that Drake played a heck of a game, executing their gameplan to near perfection. I'm sure our worst defensive game of the year contributed, but I still have to give the Bulldogs credit for putting over half their shots through the twine. Considering all the factors at play, that we were within six with a couple of minutes left is amazing.

The officiating, particularly in the first half was awful. I recall one trip where Graham Hatch clearly traveled. A few seconds later Gabe Blair dribbled into the high post, pivoted and passed out. Not even close to a travel, but it was called as such. A few other times I thought we got away with a travel. And the foul on Durley at the end of the first was a head-scratcher. Add it the charge calls where the secondary defender wasn't in legal position, Murry's 5th foul and I'm sure a few more missed travel calls on us, it was one of the worst officiated games I've seen recently.

This is what happens when you play games in 'gyms' not arenas.

Drake doesn't have another 'gym' on campus anywhere?

Good God, this is a joke, right?
