  • When you go from beating Northern Iowa one night to begging for mercy against Drake the next, then it all comes into focus = mediocre.

As KC said, our record was heavily inflated.

I think we avoid Thursday though.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

    • Lets not blame the refs for this one. WE deserved to lose!

      • We're much better than a Thursday team. We're better than average, but not a lot better. Proving that will be dependent upon how we finish the rest of our conference schedule. This is just our 3rd loss in conference. If we continue to win all of our home games and steal one or 2 more on the road we'll be a 2nd or 3rd place team. I still say we finish higher than 5th. Not much doubt in my mind.

Agreed, but they still sucked. We are the only team in the Valley that doesn't get the drive to the basket calls.

            • This Shocker team does just about everything better than the team last year, except that their team intensity really hasn't improved at all.

We're winning more games on the road because they shoot better are a little more athletic, but they seem to lack the mental fortitude as a team to recover from bad situations, unless Hannah is able to hit a shot or two or the home crowd is there to will them through it.

I would like to see the team put their heads down, drive the lane and draw some GD fouls.

What is the point of being the 7th best free throw shooting team in the country if we lose to an inferior team because they shoot twice as many as we do?

              • Any gripping about the refs today is ignorant. The calls late in the game were nothing more than salt in our own self-inflicted, fatal wound. There are a ton of other problems to address with this team right now, and those, they can do something about.

That's what I'm saying. When we do that, we still don't get the calls.

                  • The race is far from over. Northern Iowa still has Drake twice and they play Missouri State on the road. Drake is much improved and the way they hit free throws they can beat anybody in the Valley.

I agree that the problems are fixable, but you'd think they would've fixed them by now with the conference race on the line. Still, gotta keep plugging away and trying to do what we can.

Auto bid? That isn't decided until St. Louis.

                          • I still think we finish top 3 - I hope the players just wake up and realize when we play like this - we are ruining Clevin's senior season. No matter how good we may be next season, Clevin will not be here.

High school fans in a high school gym. And like in high school, they don't know how to handle themselves.

Pretty sad that after winning 5 in a row that they're still under .500.

It may not be over, but it sure is over for us to control our own destiny. If we were to win out until we go to UNI, we're in the driver's seat. Now, we have to let other people beat UNI. We just gave UNI a real shot in the arm.
