Just a question to understand why there would be a suspension at all: Assuming a player is fully eligible (other than the paperwork) what if any advantage could be gained by a school/player in CH’s scenario?

Zero. But do you think the NCAA cares about that?

If the NCAA wants to flex its collective muscle, it will. If it wants to show that schools MUST be more vigilant about the requirements, this could be the way to send the message. I hope not. If it wants to be reasonable, CH is penalized one game whether or not the Newman game counts as that one.

IF the information we have is mostly correct, and I believe that it is, then the appropriate penalty would be a 1 or 2 game suspension for the Head Coach, the person ultimately responsible for the work getting done, imho, or the athletic department with some kind of fiduciary penalty.

Penalizing the player, again in this case with the facts as we know them, does not appear to be right, fair, corrective or likely to affect future actions.

Does it go this far: Lets say the player involved is the last guy on the bench and does not play anyway do they then go after the coach, the administration, do nothing or standard pentalty the player gets suspended?
I just don't think there is a handbook for this. Like some NCAA sanctions it seems completely arbitrary.

Which is not good, because we don't have the work Kentucky on our jerseys.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I really don;t think this decision is going to come before tomorrrow. First it was supposed to be tuesday then now its Friday....

I doubt the ncaa works on weekends. So if it doesn't come today my guess is next week.

Shouldn't the NCAA be embarassed by this situation? They weren't very vigilant since it took them a year to find the error. 1 game suspension max would be fair, but they are the NCAA and we're not a BCS school with Kentucky's lobbyist in their ear.

I wonder if WSU found the error and reported it to the NCAA.

If HCGM doesn't know the ruling do you think he will play Hannah on Sunday or sit him out to get the suspension over with more quickly?

I think not knowing the situation puts him in quite a bind. Because if the penalty really is three games including the exhibition you would hate for CH to play vs. FDU and not vs. Pitt.

On the other hand playing Hannah is kind of conceding the issue.

If for some reason there's no word going into Sunday Hannah will not play

If that's the case, will he get credit for time served once the sentence actually comes down?
