Here we go...Games of Interest for week of 11/8 - 11/14
Non-Conf Opp. 3-5 (guess I was off on the 7-5 guess...)
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
Actually, ShockerFever, Wichita State has done quite well against athletic big east teams in the past.
Providence twice
Seton Hall in the NCAA tourney
Syracuse the year after
Granted, those games are much older, and with a completely roster and coach, but it's not like the Big East has some freak athletes that we stand no chance of containing, especially considering their youth and loss of key players. Considering how we played last year as a very young and new team against Georgetown and Michigan State, I think the players can handle this.
By saying our team is lost on offense without CH is completely discounts the abilities of TM, DK, and GH. There were a number of times when TM and DK would play the 1-2 combo last year, and it worked quite well because of their length and being a nightmare for opposing guards to score against. So it's not like this hasn't been done before.
Also, our team had an exhibition and a week of practice to work on playing without CH. And if necessary, by the time we play Pitt, there will be two more games of experience.
Pitt gets us on a neutral court, within driving distance of our fans. I give us a 55/45 chance to win with CH, and a 40/60 chance without. We will be competetive either way. But our chances go up with CH.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....
.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.
We simply aren't the same team without Clevin. He's the leader on the floor and at times was the only reason we were in some games last year. Fever knows we have talent, but talent without leadership can only go so far. I'd feel a hell of a lot better about the Pitt game with Clevin. Without him I don't like our chances. We could still win sure, but it becomes much more difficult
Very true, Sub, but we better have more leaders this year if we want to taste some post-season basketball. Maybe it's a little early to tell who is going to step up, but what better time than when the starting point guard isn't in the game?
If we don't see Hatch and Durley (or somebody unexpected) step up as leaders this year, we won't get much better. It should be an expectation that someone will fill the leadership role that Clemente vacated.
I agree that our chances are much better with CH, but we still stand a good chance without him, IMO. As long as someone else steps up to take the reins.

19:46 Creighton - P'Allen Stinnett misses a 25-foot three-pointer
Sounds about right.... :D :D
Thought I would pass this along...This is from GLOG (Game Log) on CbsSports.com
Kansas fan here cheering for the Flyers. I hate the Missouri Valley b.c they are trash and they play trash now that they actually play somebody they will lose

Exactly. Thank you.
And Steele, I'm well aware of our prior Big East success. What you forgot to mention was our most recent run-in with a Big East opponent - Georgetown last year, in which we lost. Sure it was competitive, but it was fugly and we would later realize that G-Town was pretty bad last year.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

I've always liked our chances against Pitt. I still do even if it's without Clevin. Of course that will change if we don't play well in the next two games. If we do, we just might go into the game as a slight favorite or at worst a slight underdog.
