My post now includes Evansville, however their schedule hasn't "officially" been released...so it could change.

2nd round CBE Classic opponent still to be determined.

We play the 2 Creighton games in a 7 day time span, the 2 Evansville games in an 8 day time span and the 2 UNI games in a 14 day time span. I guess you have to play eveyone twice during the season and I'm not sure if this is good or bad for the Shocks, but I would generally prefer the 2nd half of the home and homes to be spread out a little more. Then again we have about 2 months between Bradley I and Bradley II.

WICHITA, Kan.- Wichita State's 2009-10 men's basketball schedule is highlighted by 18 home games, more than seven nationally televised games, and a trip to the 2009 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic in Kansas City to face Pitt and either Texas or Iowa, third-year Wichita State University head coach Gregg Marshall announced today.

I see us going 21-10 overall and 12-6 in the Valley. I would not be surprised if we do better, but I will be disappointed if we do do more than a game or two worse than that.

Well our average RPI of opponents took a big hit with 3 games we didn't know about until now.....

Fairleigh Dickerson = 333 (of course we don't have a choice on that one)

                Alcorn St = 340

                Texas Southern = 326

                OUCH

Before these games...we could have had as high as 118 RPI average among our opponents (going off of the 2008-2009 RPI)

Now....the best it could be is 177.....

Updated my post that shows the average RPI of opponents.

How do we finish the regular season at home? It seems every year that we always went on the road.

Alcorn and Texas Southern hurt. Not good at all. I'm guessing our 2nd CBE opponent isn't going to help that at all.

The non-con schedule is out and I'm less than thrilled, oh well, I'm glad our schedule doesn't resemble Illinois State's however.

The CBE Classic giveth with two very good opponents in Kansas City but takeths away with the 1st and 2nd round opponents. I think that trade off is acceptable. However, anyitme we participate in such a tournament I think we need to limit the number of buy-in cupcakes as much as possible. Scheduling for the non-BCS schools just seems to get harder every year.

I think we may need to start accepting some 2 for 1 deals to try to get another BCS game on the non-con schedule. Beyond that I think non-BCS conferences ranked in the Top 15 (Mountain West, MVC, A-10, Conference USA, WAC, Horizon, Metro Atlantic, Colonial and West Coast need to encourage their teams to start scheduling each other on a home and home basis for their mutual benefits. The Mountain West-MVC Challenge is a step in the right direction.

It's crazy that WSU and Tulsa aren't playing annually. ORU would also be an OK non-con opponent.

Perhaps having some games at the new downtown arena would entice a few more high quality opponents to agree to play the Shocks in Wichita. I suspect the crowd atmosphere there won't be quite as intimidating as the Chuck although I don't know that for sure.

In any case, I vote for an effort to try and upgrade the overall non-con schedule.

A 3 for 2 with a BCS school would be palatable, if you get get an agreement on that. Having IBA as an option might help land something like that.

I agree that at least this schedule isn't as bad as Illinois St's and some others. The biggest difference is that while we have the Alcorn and Texas Southern, we actually do have some quality teams that could really help WSU at the end of the year. We just have to be SURE to beat the teams we are suppose to beat and maybe win a couple that would look good on an at-large resume (Pitt, TX, Tech...etc).

Now, I'm not predicting the Shox will be an at-large bid this year...but at least this schedule gives them a CHANCE...unlike Illinois St...etc.

interesting that both Creighton game are on ESPN, ESPN should be reminded that its not a rivalry.
