What i objected to with the arena was the fact the city was trying to shove it through without any input.

My biggest gripe was why build a 15000 seat arena that very well could be too small to host ncaa games in the future. Can we raise the roof for more seating? The ncaa hasnt raised seating requirements in about 15 years. Did the city get any assurances from the ncaa that 15k would be adequate for some time to come?
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
    Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

I don't think they will raise it just yet. If I can remember right some of the 17,000-18,000 arenas had trouble selling out this year. I think they had to lower the prices actually to get them to sell out.

If they would have put the lux boxes/suites around in the middle like most arenas would it have seated 18-20k?????

I think the stupid idea of making the ENTIRE south side lux boxes/suites messed it all up!

Anyone have any thoughts if the lux boxes/suites were done in the round we could have more seating?? just a thought!

No doubt they would have more seating if they did it like that. But I think it would have costed a little bit more too. And I think their whole plan was not to go past 15,000 seats, no matter how dumb that thinking may have been.

I think it's stupid and I don't get it either. But whatever. It's too late now.

Sorry to revive this thread again but it seemed to be the best place to post this.

Interesting to see that all of the suites have not sold yet. I am surprised by that. I am also surprised that the Loge Seating has been selling so well. However if you look at it form one standpoint it makes sense. Businesses might not be able to afford a suite but could afford a Loge Box. All in all I think they will be able to sell all of the Loge Seating but I am not sure that all the Private Suites will sell. Especially in this economy. I am sure once the first act is announced it will provide a "buzz" that might help to sell some more premium seating.

PS: Also I am not for sure if you noticed but I am pretty sure the original plan for club seating was going to be 300 club seats. I think it was a good move to decrease the total club seats.

Good points. I'm wondering if not buying private boxes is Wichita's way of doing things. In other words, the city likes to be right in the action, not sitting up in a shiny new box with all the bells and whistles.

Take Wichita State baseball for example. How many of the high rollers sit right behind the plate, and not up in the sky boxes?

Boxes are a place to entertain, not necessarily watch the game. A lot of high rollers have both - the box for their company and employees and the close-up seats for their personal use and best customers.

Here is a link with inside pictures from the Eagle.

It is shaping up to be a great addition to Wichita. It allready looks better than the Coliseum.

Yea it really is actually exceeding my expectations. The outdoor raised patios, in my opinion, are awesome.

                                The arena Is looking good!

I know this is a little premature, but was there any planning in the design phase that would allow for a future increase in the seating capacity, if needed? Is the present structure at its maximum seating allowable, with no possibility for future expansion?
