I didn't quote the rest of what Chris Presson said. After he said there was plenty of parking down there, he said you just need to know where to look.

We jam far more people and cars in the downtown area for the last Saturday night of the River Festival, and while it can be slow getting out of that, it is manageable. Just like my family has our "spot" for downtown fireworks, people will eventually figure out or learn from others where to park.

Also remember, even out at the Coliseum (or Koch Arena for that matter) your walk through the ocean of parking lot is probably equal to at least 2-3 city blocks in many cases. Plus afterwards everyone is trying to get out a small number of exits. Downtown, people will scatter and disperse and then have multiple route choices to leave.

IMHO:
Coliseum = a bit shorter walk, a longer wait in traffic afterwards
IBA = a bit longer walk, a shorter wait in traffic afterwards (especially if you stop somewhere for a refreshing beverage)

Also if you stop the video around 33-35 seconds in you will see a large screen on the right side. I am pretty sure (don't want to say I'm 100% right) that will be a huge LED screen that shows action from the inside such as hockey games or basketball and of course advertising

This is exactly what will happen. When they built the baseball stadium in downtown Houston people were freaked out about the fact that there were only a couple of surface lots that came with the stadium. In reality, people park all over downtown (close to restaurants, where they work, etc.) and after the game the cars scatter in all different directions so getting out is fairly easy. The first couple times might be frustrating because you don't know where to go, but people will figure it out quickly.

I think people who are obsessed with parking have never been to an event outside of Wichita. No matter the venue and no matter the city, there are going to be some delays and some inconvenience when many people attend one event. It is part of the deal. Parking will be available. Some people may have to walk a few blocks. Some people will learn to arrive 15 minutes earlier than usual. But it will work. Good events will draw big crowds to the arena.

I agree. I've attended events in San Francisco, Phoenix and elsewhere. For San Fran, I parked my car in one of the East Bay towns (Fremont?) and took BART to get into the city; this was certainly longer than a shuttle ride but it was easy. Every town is different but people manage. Boulder was more of a pain than SF. I've heard that Lincoln is "impossible" when the Corn are playing football but people manage. LSU is said to be terrible for football but I talked to a LSU fan who said it wasn't that bad. Get out of Wichita and experience the world.

If you've ever been to a game in Lincoln, the small parking lots surrounding Memorial are reserved for those big-money donors. Everyone else is walking at least a mile. Surprisingly, the apparently overly-positive people of Lincoln do not demand the destruction of Memorial Stadium on the basis that it is a "waste" that makes them walk too far.

Ten years gone, I guess I forgot how negative Wichitans can be.

Went to a game in Lincoln just last year. Had to park downtown in a parking garage and walk to the stadium. And surprisingly I survived without dying! Wow, who would have thought!!!!

I seem to recall reading that it was about 51-49, though. What killed me was the gripe about the quarter cent sales tax. Wichita has a relatively low sales tax rate. In Johnson County, KS, we pay 7.9% and we have to go into Missouri to find an arena!!
