Lance Harris and Bret Michael looked like they were at home out there tonight and looked solid. I watched BM shooting around before the game and he has a very sweet shot. Hatch also has a nice stroke. Durley was in there mixing it up tonight. AB just missed a couple allys tonight. He has some serious ups. AJ is not a great shooter but is quick, can handle the ball, a serious athlete, and he can score. What a nice addition for next year to take over for PJ. PJ has really worked to improve his shooting touch and it showed tonight. It was shades of game 1 at the Dance 2 years ago when he was hitting most everything.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Since I've seen most of the guys play over the last few months, only one thing really surprised me tonight. Bret Michael looked very comfortable handling the ball, and even grabbed a rebound and made a steal. He reminds me a lot of Matt and it looks like we picked up one heck of a walk-on.

We might actually win a handful of these this year.

Hatch was nailing 3's in that contest, I hope he can do that in a game. He has a nice shot.

Mekel looks more combfortable on Defense, and I think he is improved.

Griskanes seemed a little, timid. I dont know if he was putting in full effort or what? I think when the season starts he will be a good player for us.
Griskanes may do a lot better in an organized offense. I don't know how much "schoolyard-playground" (unorganized) play he put in as a kid. I expect him to be one of our top 3-4 players this year.

No kidding. The boy can flat out fly. Clemente won the dunk contest on style points, but AJ made more technically impressive dunks (as ASM pointed out elsewhere). Both can throw down, though.

Thanks for all the reports (and pictures and video on other threads)
I will have ShockerVision in November. :D
Is there a service for away games? In the past, I had to pay $10 for each away game to the school that offered similar service as ShockerVision... :(

                        • That was one sweet 360 dunk by AJ (who has the perfect Shockerland name).

Bret M was fast like Matt, had some moves, looks to be smart player, can shoot. Looks good for a walkon, might see some minutes down the line.

AJ is court savvy, has good hands, good ball control, and can finish.
Ellis will be okay, scored some, needs to get settled in more.

Butler was okay, actually looking for him to be the 2nd line 4 guy, at least until Orukpe gets here.
Durley did better than I expected, and looks like he could be solid.

Clemente - Will definately be a favorite, plays bigger, I noticed a couple of finesse moves by him, athletic, he will cause problems for opponents.
Clemente adds a lot of fun for the team, and jellin together.
Griskenas - Wasn't a dominant force, seems like he will be a finesse player.

Gal - looked good, not really a point guard, but can handle it, looking to be Mr. Assist, and I was glad to see him hit that 3 he did.
Matty B. - looked good, good little general, still surprises people when he pulls up and hits the 3.

Hatch - Looked sort of like a Creighton player a little, has a nice shot and form. He could get some minutes at the 2 or maybe even the 3.
Preadom - looked more at ease on the court. Marshall's style will be good for him. He's athletic and can jump, glad to see that shot he made.

Not any taller than last year so far, but more height overall. Much more athletic, got some moves, some razz-ma-tazz to them.

It will be a fun year. This team will be fun to watch, and so will Coach Marshall. Get Orukpe here, and I definately think we will be in the top 3, and a real good possibility for post season play.

Can't tell until they play against real competition. They are more athletic and in better shape all around, but how good won't be known for a while.

                              • As my first post on Shockernet, I would like to say thank you for everyone that did their best to evaluate the players after the scrimmage. I do not live in Wichita anymore (I live in NYC) but I do follow the WSU basketball program as well as the MVC. In fact, I posted on Valleytalk quite a bit last season.

A quick question, Butler was always a kid I thought had great potential and I was pleased that he earned a second chance – does it look like he has improved at all, put on weight, etc.? I guess I am looking for signs that he is taking basketball seriously.

I can see from the pictures that Durley looks in much better shape. In addition, as others have pointed out, I would not be surprised to see him start later in the season. I suppose PT has a lot to prove, at least to me.

AJ Hawkins should not be a surprise – he was a good player for St. Bonaventure last year, perhaps their best player. He is going to be a great practice player this year and will fill in nicely for PJ next year.

Clemente will be Clemente – I know he will go after every rebound and play hard – but how did his offensive game look?

                                Any additional comments on Ellis?
