It sucks for the Valley, and I'm pissed at the snub to the non-BCS schools, but I'm not at all disappointed in seeing sCUm not make it.

All I have to do is think of an "Official Sponsor to the NIT" sign and smile. :)
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Does anyone know who was on the selection committee this year? What kind of representation do the non-bcs conferences get?

Hang another banner boys. When they sack up and start playing someone they might get back in. Right now they are EXACTLY where they belong, in a group of mediocre teams because they didn't have the stones to test themselves. They wanted to get plenty of home games and mix in some Catholic match ups and some good other middies and hope for the best.

No room for error and they errored with Drake, ALR and us.

Quite frankly the Committee is obviously losing sight of what puts the Madness into March Madness. It is not a bunch of mediocre BCS schools knocking each other off.

Ii is the David vs Goliath matchups of a truly balanced tournament. Who will be the next George Mason, Davidson, Wichita State or Bradley.

Without that it just becomes March Adness.

I'll probably pay attention to the Final Four, but the rest of the Tournament holds little interest for me.

                Yep.

Until Diana comes to the realization that his program is not a BCS powerhouse, they might have a chance to actually do something in the NCAA's.

Until then, enjoy your NIT sCUm.

I guess what makes one upset is that when the MVC got 4 teams in, it's not as though we all went out in the first round. You had both Bradley and WSU make it to the sweet 16.

And don't get me wrong, I got no problem with the Big 12 getting 6 in, but I think the line is drawn when you are taking more than half of the teams in a conference. That is just ridiculous.

I just wish the NCAA would put in a rule saying you must be over .500 in conference or win the auto bid to make the Tournament. Won't affect many teams each year and would eliminate a few of the mediocre "BCS" teams.

                      Meh, I don't care. I know I should but I really don't.

Why? Elgin. If he had a sack he would not have backed off the declaration of playing a tough schedule. If CU wants in, they need to earn it. Same for us.

If we, along with CU, UNI, and SIU go out and play tough schedules, our conference wins and losses will mean something too.

I get that it is "easier" for big conference schools to get home and homes, etc. but it gets easier for the MVC if we just go out and do it.

Anyways, this one bid year is on Doug, simple as that.

Btw, if you want upsets, pick a Big 10 school to lose. That is a really bad league and I don't get how they convinced people they were worth 7 fraking bids.

The power conference teams have pretty much figured out if they just play each other in non-conference and then play some patsy low DI buy games at home, they're probably good as long as they finish at .500 in conference and don't totally blow in their conference tournament. I'd like to send the selection committee a big bag of what my dogs just left in the backyard.
The NCAA could solve this problem quite easily if they wanted to. The BCS conferences are now having challenges or shootouts with each other For example, Big 12 vs. Pac 10.

There are 6 power conferences, 25 non-power conferences and enough independent teams to make a 26th. The NCAA could mandate shootouts between the 6 power conferences and the nonpower conferences. Each power conference would schedule 2 year home and homes with 4 nonpower conferences. Big 12 vs. Valley, Summit, C-USA, and Horizon for example. The shootouts could then rotate. Valley vs. Big10 for two yerars, Valley vs. SEC for two years, etc.

This could balance schedules, force power teams to play on the raad, and eliminate alot of the BS that goes on now. This scenario would still leave room for pre=season tourneys.

The power teams would scream about lost revenue, but too bad.

Being a non-BCS school at tournament time compares to being a kid living in an orphanage with 300 other kids waiting to see which 4 get adopted this year.

Having the Big 12 pair up against the Horizon or anything like that is just no good. A few upsets here and there but there is just too big of a talent gap.

Look at the two teams "left out." CU and St. Mary's. St. Mary's big draw is out, so no surprise they are left. You and I both watched CU lose twice to WSU this year, and get SPANKED by Ill State. They are not an impressive team. They don't deserve to get in.
