St Mary's and Creighton get snubbed for Maryland and Arizona....that part sucks.

But when you do lose two games in your conference tournament, do you deserve to go?

All perfectly true, because Denny Crane said so.

I'm perfectly happy that CU didn't make it. But only 4 non-bcs teams make it in as at-large? I don't like the trend over the past couple years.....

Cu would've just lost in the first round anyway.

I am surprised that the Big 10 got 7. I don't know if that conference is that good or just mediocrity camoflauged as depth. I guess we'll see.

The disturbing trend of non power at large shrinking continues.

from a high of 12 a few years ago to 4. Plenty of crappy average teams from power conferences.

If it goes lower yet again next year, look out.

I don't really care that CU was snubbed, what irks me a little is:

                      1. I think the Valley is usually good for 2 teams every year. The 2nd team in the Valley more times than not is better than the 7th team in the Big 10.

                      2. And that an upset win in a non-BCS conference tournament, domintated by a power team that is bound for an at large regardless, ie Gonzaga or Butler, always crowds out an at large spot for of another non-BCS conference at-large, never does this scenario bump a potential BCS at large.

Next year will be different...teams like us will be making some noise against BCS opponents.

Valley will be better top to bottom...we have some good neutral court games as do other Valley teams.

I see three teams from the Valley making it in next year.

Well, we'll never hear about how the big 10 got 7 in and went 1 and 7, but we'll always hear about how the Valley gets 3 in and goes 1 and 3.

The BCS mentality ruling College Football has now thoroughly infected College Basketball.
There's no question Creighton didn't deserve to be in this tournament. But only selecting 4 non-BCS at-large teams is a travesty. The most glowing indication is the Arizona pick. They are 19-13 and were horrible on the road. They have an RPI in the 60's and still get in?
                            Explain that one.
Ok, since no one stepped forward, I will.

I wonder if the non-BCS conferences should just start fielding all-star teams to represent the conferences in the tournament.

Like one of the CBS commentators said, the non-power teams are getting hosed because they can't get the non-conference games necessary to beef up a schedule. The power conference teams have pretty much figured out if they just play each other in non-conference and then play some patsy low DI buy games at home, they're probably good as long as they finish at .500 in conference and don't totally blow in their conference tournament. I'd like to send the selection committee a big bag of what my dogs just left in the backyard.
