  • GS just needs to get minutes, as he matures he will get better and better. No still on RS

    • We didn't have enough postmen at the start to redshirt GS. I have already seen improvement in him.

      • OF COURSE HE SHOULD HAVE REDSHIRTED. It just was not considered an option at that time.

        • Not sure about the RS. When EO gets here, I think that we won't have enough minutes at the 5 for both EO and GS. I think that Garrett will learn more in games than in practice. This has been a good learning year for him and I think he'll get the idea that he needs to be much stronger and decisive.

          • When EO gets here I think we should redshirt him hopefully getting some advice and growing from the 'Wise' Junior Garrett Stutz

            • EO won't be able to be redshirted. He's getting his only redshirt with Three Rivers.

              • For those who think GS should have taken the shirt, what's your depth chart for the front court?

How much of Durley's development do you think might be attributed to having someone competing with him for PT?

Stutz development as a player and being a 5th-year Sr. might have worked out better, but there are only 2 post players on the entire roster.

                  • If the coaching staff feels anywhere close to comfortable with next year's frontcourt depth then why not redshirt him next season? He has so much strength & conditioning work in front of him I'm not sure he can accomplish that over one off-season - on top of working on big man basketball skills.

                    • We still can't afford to RS Garrett next year. That would leave JT as our only center. One of the reasons Blair left ECU was because they had him playing center.

Garrett is just going to have to deal with being on the fast track.

                      • In a perfect world, GS would RS this year. In a perfect world, we would also be undefeated.

In reality, GS is the only post player we have, and we're 3-7 in the valley.

                        Go figure.

                          • Patience everyone! I too feel underwhelmed by the progress of GS, but it is not all his fault! Everyone from SN, media and coaching staff overhyped him from the start and NOBODY could have lived up to his hype! Let the big guy develop and progress! I'm so afraid we've already done it again before EO even steps into a game for wsu!

                            • something that may be lost is that GS probably pushed JT Durley to get better in certain facets (defense, physical shape, etc) of his game so that he wouldn't lose playing time. Had GS redshirted then JT might not had that pressure to get better so he could stay on the floor.

                              • No sweat. Not saying this is wrong, but we over-over-over hype every future Shocker recruit including the waterboy.

Hmmm, wonder if there's any potential there?
