    • We need to steal a win to offset the UMKC loss and be very competitive in all 3 games. These games could be murder for a young team but well worth it if we show improvement and develop as a team.

Honestly, I hear you and I think most Shocker fans expected to be 3-0 at the moment and looking at a 3-5 or 4-6 record heading into Gardner-Webb but with the "Roo flu" most hoped our beloved Shocks were not 1-7

Tonight is a collective sigh of relief. The team look "respectable" in the second half and like the young & inexperienced team they are in the first half. 65 - 44 is a relief to this Shocker fan.

            • DUShock---just wait until this young group throws together a solid 1st and 2nd half!!! Yikes---that could be very fruitful resulting in a nice upset in Orlando?

              • Shocks were just terribly impatient in the 1st half. Whenever, they worked the offense just moderately well they found Stuts down low.

Obviously, much better execution the second half and some very unselfish team play. I think JT even had 3 nice assists.

I thought JT played much better tonight on both ends of the floor and will still be an integral part of this team.

Garrett had such a huge size advantage against this team and he showed he, with the help of his teammates could figure out how to take advantage of it.

Nice recognition of the undefeated Volleyball team at halftime. Coach Lamb personally invited all 10,000 of us in attendance to come out and support the team this Friday and, hopefully, Saturday evening in the MVC Tournament. I'm forwarding that personal invitation from Coach Lamb to all of Shocker fans not able to attend the game tonight.

                • We just need to continue to improve and when Conference starts, it is a whole new season.
I invented the cross-over dribble in the early 70's

                  • Hey hey hey----Tyrone Shoelace is in the House!!! Are you seeing that are guards are mastering the crossover dribble that you invented to your liking?

1972 was a good year and he is correct in that JT played better on both ends of the court tonight. We can go into Thanksgiving with a nice win to enjoy. Tyrone, by Valley time, I really think this young team will just keep getting better. However, we will take so spills along the way but we will also Shock some folk.

                      • Improvement--not just from the UNKC disaster, but just in general was definately seen this evening! As most of us have said, there will be many ups and downs this season, and this was an 'up' that we all need to savor, because they may be hard to come by for the next couple of weeks.

The inside game and the size matchup is our key to success--particularly against smaller non-conference opponents. Garrett has such a nice way of handling the ball, and his feet--though slow still will eventually catch up, and when they do--WATCH OUT!

No matter what happens in Orlando, this was a step forward overall. There are miles left to go, but we are moving in the right direction, and it was just what the team and the fans needed!

Ramon was a bit quiet, but I'll take that every now and then if it means guys like Murry and Stutz step up then so be it.

One can't help dreaming of the future when you see 2 freshman show just a taste of things to come for the next 4 years!

Usually that takes years to work out. I know it was Centenary who's weak on the inside, but Stutz finding Murry open when Stutz had the ball down low is pretty encouraging.

Reminded me of Miller/Ogirri when Miller was a Jr and Ogirri was a So.
Not to be an @$$...but wasn't Miller a Sr when Ogirri was a So?

                          • The inside-outside game between Murry and Stutz was encouraging. I doubt it will work as well in Orlando against teams who can defend both ends better than Centenary could.

I think we have the replacement for Miller/Ogirri. We don't have the replacements for Braeuer, Wilson, and Cooz yet.

Mannigault better have some amazing BB IQ to replace Braeuer. Hawk might give us one year of forgetting Cooz. Trfr's can require a year to get back to their game form. The lack of a legitimate backup at 3 is a weakness on this team.

I don't think we have a replacement for Wilson. Wilson had an unusual combination of ability and smarts at the 4.

Murry had some "Gal Mekel" moments playing PG tonight. I think the message is clear. Hannah better run the offense or Marshall will find omeone else who will.

                              Yep, my bad.

That pretty much blows up my whole comparison. We can't expect Stutz to play inside-outside the way Miller did in Stutz Fr or So years and we can't compare Miller's Jr year with Ogirri to Stutz/Murry any time in their careers.

The whole comparison is a bit flawed. Murry isn't as pure a shooter as Ogirri, but Murry has some parts of his game that Ogirri never had or will have.

This game was only a hint of things to come, but inside/outside was there. The guys working it to the max are both Fr. - and seem to be developing some chemistry.

                              • I'm not too excited about a win over centenary. They are one of the worst teams in college basketball, if we couldn't beat them tonight, I'd have a hard time believing we could beat anybody. Now, if we can play this weekend like we did in the second half tonight, I'll be a little more encouraged. But this team is too young and going to be inconsistent all year. I'm hoping we can at least win the 7th place game this weekend, because I don't see us beating Georgetown, Tennessee, or Siena.
