6. If/when Griskenas gets healthy, we'll be playing 10 guys. No idea how you ever get that group down to eight.
I don't think that number is doing to go down to eight. We will need Clemente, Stutz, Ellis, Durley, and Griskenas in the post if we continue to pick up fouls like we have. Hawkins needs to play and how can you set Hatch? Then you have Hannah, Murry, and Chamberlain. That's 10 and I don't think we can go any lower. I think Kyles will be harder to keep off the field as the season goes on.
Am I the only who is worried about Stutz's defense? Yeah he can score with good touch around the basket but he was getting used up by the Florida A&M post players. It worries me what Valley teams will do to him.
Did anyone catch coaches comments about KJ in the postgame? He said the kid has a 6'11" wingspan and will really change the way we trap and guard the perimeter. Said this will cure our deficiences of our point guards not being fast or tall enough. Hannah was really complimentary of Toure in the postgame said he's a real playmaker.
It's only one game - just wait until our new guys get the game figured out and our team gets some chemistry going. I have a feeling this is a fast learning group.

He'll take his lumps this season and so will we, but the real great thing here is that I am confident he will just keep getting better and better. It makes you really optimistic for his junior/senior years. He has the ability and potential to be a real monster player--the likes of which we haven't see in some time.
Just my take.
I SECOND THE UMKC 'REVENGE' STATEMENT! I was very disappointed at our performance in KC last year--my first trip to the Municipal Auditorium. I predict it will be much different at the Chuck.
Toure had 5 assists at HALFTIME. He really is smooth, and just does it all in a quiet way. I believe Toure had the most minutes on the court today too.
Stutz will be okay. He's a smart kid, and he will get his game to where we all want it to be. Ramon is just the epitomy of a 'hard working man'. Glad Clevin finally decided to shoot the ball, he has a nice stroke.
You all seem pretty pleased with what happened this afternoon, I was too, but there is one bit that I can't say I was too happy with.
Stutz dropped a few passes today, but I think that was more the fault of Hannah's entries. Lots of them came to him at chest level or lower, where his defender could get a hand on them. I'd like to see him get more passes up high that he can catch while stepping and slide to the basket or just back down his man.
He's 7' tall for goodness sake, let's see him use it. :good:
Given time Hannah will learn when and where to give Stutz and other player the passes where they need them. He wasn't the PG on the JuCO team that was ranked number 1 in the country for a large part of last year for no reason and Chamberlain is no slouch at the point or is Murry if he happens to be at point.

Your concern is justified but Stutz, like Miller, will use this year chasing a bubble. His body is more advanced than his coordination. Ideally he would have red shirted but we need a 10 man rotation and are making do with 9. If he follows other big men each year will see marked improvement in abilities.

KJ is 6'4" or 6'5" and has a 6'11" wingspan.
Hmmm... I thought it was just Kenny... :)
6'4" with a 6'11" wingspan?? That brings new meaning to the term "knuckle-dragger"... Does anybody think K.J. has a problem dunking the ball?
Wasn't the "Freak" from Bradley 6'4" with a 7 foot wingspan? His arms looked outrageous...
