The shox were not the only team Pickett got off on, ask ACC foes and they could tell you he was some kind of scorer! Some guys can raise their level in hostile environments and CKA was one that night! That is the only time I left a home game loss a very happy fan, thinking that was one hell of a game![/quote]

I saw the shocker beat Bradley in overtime. Same year they both went to the sweet sixteen. Still have ticket stub kind of cool.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

The loudest the fans have ever been at 21st and Hillside was the FSU game. It went full on anticipating the Shocks coming out of the tunnel just prior to the player introductions. It lasted through two overtimes. It was also the best game since the remodel.

I also went to the Iowa and the Cinncinati games that were previously mentioned. Those games meant more and the Shocks won but the noise level was not as consistantly good.

Congratulations to the present day Shocker fans. :wsu_posters:

I have been watching, since 1963. Probably, I have seen 90%+ of the home games. My best are as follows:

          1. FSU game.

From buzzer to buzzer, this clearly was the loudest game.

Pickett went something like 12-15 for the game and most of them were 3s.
In his next game, he was something like 2-14. Go figger.

I will never forget Mike Kennedy being knocked off the air in OT. I told Teresa that I really felt badly for Mike because it was the greatest game in Shocker history. (Some exaggeration perhaps.) Mike was off the air for several minutes of play, but he was finally reconnected.

          2. Iowa game.

This game did not get loud until maybe the 10 minute mark in the second half. By the end of the game, the crowd noise was deafening.

          3. There are some 60s games, which were pretty damn loud. I am too tired to look them up. I am thinking of some Stallworth games.

Back in those days, when marque (sp?) teams came into Henry Levitt, every seat was filled and all of the aisle steps were filled. If capacity was 10,400 then, I imagine another thousand was sitting on the steps. Sometime around 1966, the fire marshall put a stop to it.

The field house was not only loud, but it was sufficating hot. The people load put out a lot of heat.

I remember the Cincinnati game was a barn burner.
WSU 59 Cincinnati 58 in OT on 2-15-64.

I think someone above mentioned it.

It seemed like all of the Loyola games were great games.
