I wish I had been there at the Creighton game that night... I had a work thing to do, but my wife was keeping track of the score listening online and giving me updates.

Even the replay of those final moments was exciting--though probably not 1/2 as exciting as being there in person.

What about the best game ever at the Roundhouse--old AND new??

That's probably a much less clear answer...

I missed the Matty B CU game. I was listening to it on the radio in the officials room at Circle HS. Best game I've seen would have to be FSU. The atmosphere and excitement was fantastic. After that it would be the SIU game when Miller hit 30 or the Bradley game where PJ swatted POB.

The Mason game would be higer if I felt the Shox played well.

I don't remember what year it was, and although it ended up as a loss, I always remember the year we played SIU here and got down very early. We were pretty much getting humiliated, but we started coming back a little bit before halftime and after halftime kept the run going and eventually tied it up, however we came up just a bit short in the end, but the team showed a lot of heart. I believe that was at Koch, does anyone remember the game I'm talking about?
i'll never forget that game...i remember us being down over 20..turgeon called a time out..it started calm, then he started waving his hands...then took off his jacket and slammed it to the ground and started stomping his feet...the reaction from the crowd was incredible - coach really showed some emotion that night. that started the rally, but it was just a bit short. definately one of the top ten games that i've seen there.

Watching Benny J hit the fall-away on Senior Night had to be the worst game I ever saw at the Chuck.

Thank the Lord someone came up with that......because that is the answer.

When Mark started into them during that timeout......knelt down, he started to get animated, his head started bobbing back and forth as he had to talk louder just so he could be heard over the increasingly loud crowd.....Man I will never forget that. There has NEVER been a moment in the entire history of the sport of basketball where a team was that pumped and a crowd that loud after a scrub guard buried a 3 to make his team trail by 13 going into the half. I promise you it was maybe 1 decible lower than when Matt hit his 3 to beat CU....maybe.

If you weren't filled with pride and passion during that effort against a team far FAR more talented (and well coached and hard working and winners etc) then you don't have passion for WSU or even sports in general.

No doubt about it - the CU game in 06. That same night SIU lost (I think at home to Indiana State??) and UNI lost, and that helped us take control of the Valley. That was a definite turning point in the season. Something about that night, Tuesday, February 14, 2006. Something aligned perfectly in the universe that night. That's one I'll NEVER forget.

The peak noise level ever at Koch got about its loudest at that moment. However, the FSU game was a constant loud noise level. It would be a close 2nd.

Maybe we should start a topic about the worst games you've ever seen at the Chuck..

I thought it was dirty how they put up the UNI score up in white lettering and yellow background after the CU game

Hey Doc, When you talk about a comeback and the greatest pumped up crowd in the "entire history of sport of Basketball", Thoes games don't even compare with Cinncinati Game where "The Rave" hit 46 aginst the #1 Bearcats, for a come from behind win, and no crowd has ever been louder than the noise made by the thoes in attendence at the Iowa Game in the sub-regional game here. The crowd would not let the team lose. The TV guys could not hear themselves the last 5 minutes of the game. The fellow who I share my tickets with was managing a Quick-Trip on past Oliver on 21st St.,said the could hear the roar of the crowd when he went outside to have a smoke. Remember in this game the Shocks were down 15 early in the second half to the #4 Sead in the Tournement. Then came back to win on Randy's Free throws with only seconds remaining. Ask Randy or the "Rave" what thoes crowds were like.

FSU game - by far the most pumped crowd I've seen in the place ever. And I've been to a lot of them.

The difference, as stated before, was that the crowd wasn't the regulars, they were folks that wanted to be there. Standing and yelling so loud you'd think it was a Rock concert for screaming and stomping.

Biggest single moment (that I wasn't at because I gave my friends choise of my tix for a present) was the Creighton game.
I had season FOOTBALL tix... did you?

There is no contest. The FSU game was the greatest basketball game event I have ever been to. I have been to numerous games at Allen field house and it doesn't even compare. There were no corporate rags there filling up empty seats, just fans of WSU basketball.

The moment that I realized that is was something special was when the guys who run out before the team with the flags gathered at the tunnel. The arena turned into bedlam. Fans where on their feet and going ballistics for several minutes before the team ran out. I'll never forget the yellow WSU flag at the begining of the tunnel girating up and down to the clapping and cheering of the fans. From then on the fans where in tune to every possession. When Jamar hit the three to send into double overtime the roof damn near came off.

I truly believe it was the kind of experience that is rare now in College basketball with mega corporate sponsors and the move to neutral courts for the tourney. It wasn't a tournament game, it was more like a home playoff game. I wasn't at the now infamous Iowa game but from what I gather it was very similar. I would love to get a NC State or Georgia for a home NIT game this year.

Wow, I can think of a few games during the Thompson era that stared Rick Cundiff (sp)against the Drake bulldogs that were dreadful to watch. That said we still drew 5000 die hards who loved their shox.
