Personally, I just think you get more out of an actual game environment than scrimmaging no matter who it's against. This is just another practice and may be against some equal competition, but I'm still not convinced it prepares the team for the season any better than scrimmaging themselves other than it's a bunch of new faces.
Even if you play a game against an inferior opponent, you can take more from game situations and atmospheres in my opinion. It's just different. Obviously Marshall thinks otherwise and none of us are going to change his opinion and I doubt he'll be able to change many of ours.
It's just a differing philosophy.
