Personally, I just think you get more out of an actual game environment than scrimmaging no matter who it's against. This is just another practice and may be against some equal competition, but I'm still not convinced it prepares the team for the season any better than scrimmaging themselves other than it's a bunch of new faces.

Even if you play a game against an inferior opponent, you can take more from game situations and atmospheres in my opinion. It's just different. Obviously Marshall thinks otherwise and none of us are going to change his opinion and I doubt he'll be able to change many of ours.

    It's just a differing philosophy.

Pretty sure we lost a home game last year also. Was it when LSU decided not to come play us?

The exhibition games are ones that draw a lot of "future" fans. Yes, there are many a ticket handed off to people who cannot attend the game, or don't want to attend the exhibition games. The young crowd that attend these games appreciate the facilities & the action and make the Shockers their "team. Eliminating the exhibition games or games may also eliminate some future Shocker fans.

I'm not worried about that at all, winning takes care of everything. WSU basketball is our city's pride and joy. That's not going to change by not having two exhibition games each season. Support at WSU has and always will be strong for men's basketball.

It all comes down to one guy is the coach and everyone else is not. He must know something about basketball or he wouldn't be making around 3/4 million dollars coaching a team. If he thinks it's what they need and the AD is fine with it, then that's what's gonna happen.

The powers of logic and reasoning allude you.

Me thinks you're making a huge mountain out of a small mole hill here. If the coach thinks having a closed door scrimmage will help this team, this year, more than an open exhibition game against a cupcake, then it will.

If you'd rather see all the walkons go out and get some PT, you've still got all the chances I told you about earlier. But a coach looking at going up against the likes of Georgetown, Michigan State, Gonzaga, Maryland, and Oklahoma State early in the season probably wants to practice against a little stiffer competition.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

We only get what...30 separate times per year to witness the Shox in action.

We need to quit subtracting, and start attracting games.

Less, in this particular situation might be more, but I think some of us might just be frustrated from the lack of big time games at Koch since the Sweet 16 run. This city was starting to boil over from all the fan excitement.

Admittedly, not much of this is Coach Marshall's fault, but it's his program now. I'm excited about the prospects of Texas Tech, but what other big time games will come to town?

It's time to get creative to get some folks to play at our place. Playing in some high profile tournaments and such is great, but you've got to get somebody to Koch.

I don't think that will happen until the Intrust Arena is open, and holds more than 10,003 people. Just think, if we called it the Koch Intrust Arena, we could just refer to it as the KIA..... Lol.

I thought I'd take this issue to a higher court:

Well, if not a higher court, than at least somebody that writes a national column.

2 teams on the same day? Does that only count as one scrimmage? If so, maybe you would see a KU or team from Oklahoma participate. Who knows.

According to P. Suellentrop the Shocker's scrimmage with K-State is set for November 1st in Manhattan.
