  • He will not have to spend to years at a JUCO ! He is a qualifyer at the JUCO level. Therefore, he can go to D1 after one year with good grades.

    • I'm not sure that's right Cowboy. If he's not eligible to play D1 this year that makes him a nonqualifyer and would mean he'd have to get a degree from JUCO before playing D1. Unless I'm missing or overlooking something in this story.

      • Agreed, I think that's black and white.

        • I don’t know EO, have never talked to him but something tells me he will remain loyal to us over time. Actually, what concerns me more is not signing with another program it would be going pro (in whatever capacity) and/or leaving the States after 2 years of JUCO.

          • I doubt he'd choose to leave the States. If he develops and impresses the pro thing could be a concern, but education is important to him from what I've heard and he wouldn't just leave for no reason. I think Europe wouldn't really be attractive to him until he'd done everything he could to get into the NBA and that would mean finish school before going over there.

This is all based off of what I've heard/read and my own assumptions.

            • I still feel confident on him becoming a Shocker, but I expect it to occur in 2010.

              • Would he be eligible in 09-10 if he attended WSU as a student only this year and passed 12 plus credit hours both the fall and spring semester?
Or does it come back to not having the high school core classes and the only way to overcome that is via JUCO? I believe you have 5 years time to compete for 4 years once you have taken a semester with 12 plus credit hours.

                • 1 Redshirt yr and 1 yr to play gives him 3 yrs at WSU, this is etched in stone.

Without having seen him play in even one college game, why do you think he will be an NBA player?

Troy Mack did that. He attended WSU one year, on his own dime, and then had to graduate in 4 years in order to get his 4th year of eligibility back. He would have had to be in grad school that 5th year, but would have been eligible to play. Hopefully EO could do this too.

Based on what happened to Nebraska with the Roburt Sallie saga, here is what I understand the NCAA rules to be:

IF a player who is not NCAA eligible enrolls FULL TIME at an D1 institution, than that player will never be eligible under NCAA rules. They can, however, enroll part time, except in the Big XII which has its own obscure rules that don't allow even part time enrollment.

[When the Nebraska situation went down, the local papers specifically stated what I said above - there may be special rules involving partial qualifiers, but I don't know if those would apply to your guy or not...]

Because he is 7' tall, has a good build, his defense is about an 8 (out of 10), his offense is about a 4 right now, and a good coach could help him develop his potential, which would make him NBA level talent.

If Patrick O'Bryant and Shawn Bradley can make into the league, why can't Ehimen?

Gentlemen (or ladies), all I am saying is that we should not get excited about EO until EO plays. I remember two years ago when many people got excited about a "pro" from Israel. He didn't pan out too well. There have been countless numbers of other tall players over the past three decades that didn't play in the NBA, so I am asking about where you are getting your info from that seems to be charging up your senses before anyone sees him play.
