Interesting. The black seats really suck up the light. I hope all the yellow shirts in the stands shows up on TV. Cool addition to the arena though!!!

The last I had heard it sounded like any plans in that direction had been put on hold, but I haven't heard anything recently. My impression is that putting them in without losing a lot of seating isn't an easy or cheap task and that, at a minimum, it would take a backseat to building that athletic department addition between Koch and Cessna.

My hope is that the lighting will cover up some of the same students that have been in the student section for the past 10-15 years. I swear I went to school with some of those students, I graduated 20 years ago. New rule should be implemented for the AAC. Only hotties on the front row of the student section.

Having missed out on the enjoying *in person* the tidal wave of success at CKA the last years, has it really gone down that bad?

Saw them in person last week, really gives the arena a cool theater like atmosphere much like Staples Center and MSG

Like Paul mentioned, Bramlage has similar lighting and it looks very nice.

Now if only we can upgrade the sound system like that of toher arenas. (As long as the "get off my lawn" folks don't complain about it...)

Didn't they upgrade the sound system a few years ago?

Regardless, they definitely need to use it correctly. If the band isn't playing, at least play some really good hype music during timeouts. Our crowd gets amped pretty easily. Quit making it harder for us with free throw contests between people who probably haven't picked up a basketball before!

Until the department gets back on its feet with NCAA distribution money and the next media deal for the American, I would suggest that you brace yourself for MORE stupid timeout promotions.

Put me down in the minority of not being overly thrilled about the new lights. I am all for upgrading the lights, but when I see the stands not lit up it feels like we are trying to hide empty seats like k state does.........

Surely there is a way to do both- keep the crowd hyped during a timeout, but also promote something? "This party rager, brought to you by Klein Flooring and Construction."

Screw the "hype music," just let the band play. And play. And play.

I don't know if it would be possible, but how about getting the promotion in, out and gone, then have the band start blasting away and getting the crowd amped back up before the timeout is over. It would take some streamlining and good logistics, but it should be possible. Plus get rid of "Where's Wu". That is just one sad promotion.

I may have to attend a few volleyball games to see how the new lighting works. At least that's what I'll tell my wife is my reason for going.
