My only concern is that it seems like we now have an assistant staff top-loaded with primarily recruiters, rather than a balance of in-game minds, player developers, AND recruiters. Sure, "in Marshall I trust", but he's always seemed to do best with other in-game minds helping him out especially.

Please read the first article regarding Donnie in Shockwaves. His former players brag on him on how his "method to madness" is individually making them better players. Watch him work magic along with Marshall!!!

The only other thing I will add is that we shouldn't be holding our breath on signing any top 10 5 star type guys. I am confident that our staff is not willing to play the kind of game$ it takes to land these players.

If Jones can land 1 of 4 of the players he's going for out of Florida and his other recruiting areas, we're in tall clover for the future. Jones is going for a level of talent Marshall has typically left to others.

Moving into the AAC has changed the level at which Marshall recruits. Jones appears to be the guy who goes after the top-50 and top-100 guys Marshall has typically not recruited. Jones' connections and reputation coupled with Marshall's ability to put players into the NBA who had little hope of achieving that could lead to some huge recruiting.

Marshall isn't going to get the guys who are convinced they are off to the NBA after a year or two. He's going to get the guys who realize they have work to do and are willing to do that work.

I can't figure out how to post a tweet, let alone several, but Coach Jones has been tweeting several "recruiting philosophies" that are pretty interesting. Sure seems he's tempering everyone's expectations but also explaining what he looks for in a future player.
