This is almost like the scholarship issue. We aren't going to keep a guy on staff as a special assistant forever when he could be making double salary as an assistant. The last two years were good for him to get back on his feet, but it wouldn't last forever. If we didn't promote him sooner than later, we'd eventually see him elsewhere.78-65

Questioning Chris Jans' abilities is questioning 3G's ability to evaluation and value his assistants. When you are appointed Associate Head Coach the Head Coach is making a definitive statement of your value to him and his program. Perhaps you should ask 3G to put some kind of number on that for you.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 13, 2017, 02:59 PM.

When we beat the Chickens, Jans wasn't on the sidelines, nor was Cleanthony on the court. If GGG wants him, we should want him.

He saw an NBA PG in a 2-sport kid from Scott City with barely any D1 interest.
His scouts and in-game adjustments are praised by coaches and players alike.
No one was surprised when he won 20 games at a middling Bowling Green.

On the other hand it's hard to say what kind of impact his BG experience may have had on his career aspirations. My guess is he will get another shot to run his own shop and will probably strongly consider any decent opportunities as he probably should. OTOH if he and 3G can team up to take this program to new heights in their new conference who knows. He might just be content to ride the wave he has helped create.
If Coach Jans can get to the $300,000 - $400,000 salary level, perhaps his roving eye might go away. Of course, it assumes he has a roving eye."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."
