Yeah, there's nothing WSU fans can do to downplay it. It's getting said all over the place by the rest of the conference. I suppose I can just look at it like this: It's nice that the AAC believes adding WSU can legitimize statements like that (P6 stuff). They really seem to think this is a step in the direction of forcing themselves into the P5 club. In my opinion, since they do have football at a high enough level to produce ranked FBS teams that compete with the P5, it is a much different scenario than when the Big East talks about P6. It's not quite as comical when the AAC says it. It may still seem to us (WSU fans) like a stretch, but this is a conference that HAS football at a high level, and they think they are on the cusp. Honestly, I feel like it's none of our business what they want to call it. Good for them if this move (adding WSU) puts them closer to where they want to be. I'm SO GLAD to have been the school they selected to strengthen basketball. It changes everything for us.

I guess Iā€™m a P6er, I get up to pee at least six times per night.

In terms or conference RPI rankings the AAC was P-7 in basketball in 2016-17. Although according to Nolan's NPI the AAC was P-8. AAC Football was P-6.

Not sure where the AAC would have ranked last year if WSU was in the fold. But aspiring to be the 6th best conference (or better) in both Basketball and Football is a worthy goal. Not sure the chances are high to move above #6 in football but I think the AAC is capable of cracking the Top 5 in Men's Basketball on occassion.

What we really need now is for next season to be an UP, UP, UP year for the AAC in basketball and football both...and for next year to be a bit of a down year in a few of the P5's at the same time. Storm the gates. Outperform a bunch of conferences and then keep it rolling as the years go on. AAC needs to put together a solid track record of several season with rankings better than just simply #6. Need to displace some other conferences for a while and see how the narrative shapes up.

Television money will drive who is on the inside and who is on the outsider looking in. And the curretn P5 has a huge advantage with that right now and that will be a very tough nut to crack.

The AAC wants to be top 6 in football and basketball; the BE can't achieve that. That's why the "P6" branding makes sense.

The AAC has lofty ambitions to be a Power conference, just like WSU had lofty ambitions to join the big boys. Now that WSU is in the AAC, some want to poopoo the P6 moniker? Hell, if anything WSU should be wanting to help push this P6 thing as far as it can go. It not only would help keep the conference intact, but it would help to increase its strength and prestige; percived or real!

Very true...money drives the bus. It will be very interesting to see what the AAC gets when the contract is up in 2019. Things we didn't have before the last contract:

                      1. Navy football content was not included due to prior Navy contracts
                      2. Wichita State basketball
                      3. Stability - conference realignment was at its height while things have now settled down
                      4. No proof of viewership/success - results now speak for themselves

                      I think we'll get a raise...but how much?...Who knows...

After the next round of conference realignment when KU, OU, Texas and others get swept up and the Big 12 is left with Iowa State and K State and mabye a couple of more. Restart WSU football, sweep up a couple of those teams and leave it as the power 5

Then The Big 12 can poach UNI, IL State, and Mo State

I'm five kids into it with my wife, she needs new lifters and a rebuilt rear differential. But if you want to take her for a spin, be my guest. Takes a bit of time to get her all warmed up, but once you get her going, she'll run all night long.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Haha - funny stuff. 3 kids...and my wife would say I need new lifters and a rebuilt rear differential as well as a new transmission. Throw in a new liver and a larger bank account and were good!
