    • It's an inexpensive bus ride to the little apple or KC and it would not be a hit to the rpi and it goes to show how little the squawk hawks are. I like it.

      • Maybe it's time for this to have its own thread. Ugh. :dejection:

        • I would much rather play KSU than Maryland Eastern Shore/Southern Nazarene of the world

KSU will not replace a buy game although we may not need a Div. 2 school for our RPI.

            • Maybe with the added travel costs for AAC games, scheduling Missouri, KSU, OU, and OSU makes sense for financial reasons. Not much travel cost and those teams certainly aren't going to hurt NCAA seedings. It's a lot better than getting a h/h with UNLV or San Francisco.

Plus, replacing a buy game with a regional h/h against a decent team saves about $80,000 that has to be paid to a MEAC team that no one wants to see.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

              • I'm all for a game in KC or SD or even omaha.

                • I see how this works now. Creighton leaves the Valley to join other similar schools. Marshall is good enough to get the Shox out of the Valley. Muller can't keep his players around more than a couple of years. Throw those pieces all together and Lusk can coach MSU to a respectable finish in the Valley, which is likely to get him a contract extension.

Get one good recruit (Alize Johnson) every 4 or 5 years, have the teams obviously ahead of you either leave the conference or implode, and become a long-term coach in the league. That's pretty much what the Valley has become.

Porter Moser is going to go from unable to keep a job in the league to one of the league's better coaches without actually doing anything different or better.

When all the ships and boats around you have either sailed off or sunk, even a battered garbage scow looks pretty good.

Talent wise, I don't think MSU is a garbage scow. But historically, their finished product tends not to live up to their talent.

Agreed. Looks like Missouri State could be pretty good next year if Lusk doesnt' screw it up.

                      • The Valley is now a sure fire 1 bid league. If a coach is good enough to have a shot at winning in St. Louis they will never be fired. If Barry was at SWOMO now he would have a lifetime contract.

                        • I didn't mean to compare MSU to a garbage scow in my example. Only trying to make the point that when all the good things are gone about anything becomes the best merely by existing. Perhaps I should have used a canoe instead of a garbage scow.
