  • That's a striking contrast to what the MVC schedule would have been. Welcome to the American, indeed.

The American will be a top 5 RPI league, and I'm gonna go with 4-5 bids.
You mean we could have three bids and be whining? Love it! Here is to hoping these seven teams have killer non-con records before we start beating up on each other! #WeBelongWeBelieve

Since we have Baylor on the schedule, we know they will suck, so there's one team from the big 12.

IMO you are correct but I would ask why only a Top 5 RPI league? If UCF, Houston, Temple and UCONN perform well do you think the American could be a Top 3 RPI league?

The bottom of the league with ECU, Tulane and South Florida will drag it down too far to be a Top 3 league. If those three schools to get to where they are in the 125-150 range instead of 200+ the AAC would have a shot to be Top 3. At this point 5-6 is probably the peak until the bottom of the league improves.

            • So glad we're out of that crap league. UNI called it a day on their non-con schedule today. By virtue of a 4-game MTE, UNI is eligible to play 13 non-conference games. They have scheduled 12 total, 10 being D1.

There is some good meat on their schedule from road games and MTEs, but they just can't afford enough buy games to fill it out.

There's a clunker. Savannah State had a 280 RPI last year and currently holds five open scholarships.

I'd like to disagree with the "nice" part, at least on this website.

Here's some advice for any new AAC fan that's joining us at Shockernet, or just any fan of another team in general:

Some of our regulars like to bully people who are fans of other teams, or people they even suspect could be a fan of another school. They will be relentless and follow you around this website bullying you with the same 3-4 jokes they've been using for 10+ years. You'll quickly realize how un-original they are and you'll end up using the mute feature on them. It really cleans up the board, fyi.

We also don't like it when people don't praise our team/coach/atmosphere constantly. If you say anything even slightly poor about us, even if your team beats us by 40, a few select people will write it down in Microsoft Word and bring it up whenever you post, even if your new post has nothing to do with that former comment whatsoever.

But, we'll pretend to be nice to you in person if you come to a game! So we've got that going for us, I guess.

I was more referring to the "being nice in person" part. We aren't Missouri or Creighton to the point of acting like drunken jackholes at games. I have tried to go out of my way to shake hands with opposing fans on occasions, welcoming them to Wichita. A little kindness can go a long way.

                        • Well hopefully SSU can have an up year and finish north of 250 to avoid being a total grenade. Looks like they lose their leading scorer but return most of the rest of their depth.

I am wondering if we will see the customary non-D1 home game this season since we might get paired with Chaminade in Maui - I know the staff is loath to put two of those on the schedule so I'm guessing we might see a 1 year hiatus for that game.

                          • Also, looking back at last year the bracket for Maui was released on July 19, so we're still probably 5-6 weeks out.

                            • Savannah State is a clunker, but the silver lining is that they were the #1 tempo team in the country last year so at least the game should be an interesting up and down game. I have a feeling we will crack 110 in this one. In their 13 non-con games last year they gave up over 100 seven times and they averaged giving up 103.46 points per game. Iowa State scored 116, Iowa scored 113, San Diego State scored 100, Oregon put up 128 and Willam & Mary had 112.
