I think they should start the season about two weeks later than currently. So around thanksgiving would have opening week tourneys and March Madness can start the last weekend in March or the first in April. Would be nice to have home games in mid march and give more time for people to focus on college hoops before the NBA playoffs heat up.

I don't think you could move March Madness back very much if at all due to arena availability issues. Any arena that has an NBA or NHL team as the primary tenant will need to have dates available for the playoffs starting the 2nd week of April. ...The AAC Tournament begins Thursday before Selection Sunday, and the Championship Game is the final game to be played on ESPN before the selections are announced. This will certainly change our end of season protocol, waiting a full week after playing in Arch Madness. There will not be the week of rest that we've become accustomed to. Just food for thought...Comment

My take would be that we had a lot of success in the NCAA Tournament against some very high rated teams when we had the extra week but I won't attribute that success to the extra week.
