  • I think they should start the season about two weeks later than currently. So around thanksgiving would have opening week tourneys and March Madness can start the last weekend in March or the first in April. Would be nice to have home games in mid march and give more time for people to focus on college hoops before the NBA playoffs heat up.

I don't think you could move March Madness back very much if at all due to arena availability issues. Any arena that has an NBA or NHL team as the primary tenant will need to have dates available for the playoffs starting the 2nd week of April. You might be able to push it back a week.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

      • Have we still not heard any confirmation on the H&H with Baylor?

          Confirmed? Not to my knowledge.

That said, since 3G was the source of information, I'm pretty confident that it will indeed happen. It's just a matter of getting date announced.

A thought that will never happen...

Imagine if the host sites of the NCAA tourney were revealed in the same manner/timing as college baseball, and there were 16 sites across the nation, 4 in each regional. Logistical nightmare, but that would be awesome.

                  • ...The AAC Tournament begins Thursday before Selection Sunday, and the Championship Game is the final game to be played on ESPN before the selections are announced. This will certainly change our end of season protocol, waiting a full week after playing in Arch Madness. There will not be the week of rest that we've become accustomed to. Just food for thought...

                    • I think having less HCGM practices between the tournament finale and the dance might actually be a positive for our players' stamina.

3 or 4 days rest will be plenty.

It also means there is an additional week of rest spread throughout the regular season. Which can be helpful for recovery, preparation, and scheduling.

                          • The additional week of rest is a little overrated. One less week to get rusty and lose focus is a little underrated.

I'm not sure it means anything either. I just find it interesting to go from a conference among the first finishers to the absolute last prior to the Selection Show.

My take would be that we had a lot of success in the NCAA Tournament against some very high rated teams when we had the extra week but I won't attribute that success to the extra week. It's more likely we were just better than the teams we played and the way our coach either didn't use it as an excuse or made it into a positive.
