Using last year’s final RPI’s from warrennolan.com, here is the conference average power rankings based on the released conference schedules for 2017-18. I think I got this right, but someone can verify if they want to take the time to check, but surprised that Memphis, Houston, SMU, and Tulsa ended at the bottom.

I realize a lot of factors go into the AAC Conference schedule, but it was great to see we will are considered the top team in the new conference and was given a schedule commensurate with such consideration . :smug:

113.3 - Wichita (as comparison, our MVC Conference RPI average was 188.9)
114.1 - Cincinnati
117.0 - Temple
117.2 - USF
117.3 - Connecticut
122.4 - UCF
123.9 - Tulane
131.8 - East Carolina
136.1 - Memphis
137.3 - Houston
138.6 - SMU
144.8 - Tulsa

Damn, our SOS is going to be pretty good this year. But, of course, we've thought that at the beginning of the past few seasons and our opponents haven't cooperated...

This is great news! :bball_spin: The FGCU Eagles finished last season with a top 100 RPI, first place in Atlantic Sun Conference, and then lost in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament in a very competitive game against Florida State.

They also had no seniors last season. Wow.

edit: nvmd, ESPN.com's rosters are in a state of flux. They lost their 3rd and 5th leading scorers to graduation. Still a very, very solid outlook for this year based on returning firepower.

Paying for season tickets is starting to be pretty painful. The home schedule they are putting together is a nice balm.

So we now are down to 3 mystery openings on the schedule (2 if the Maui mainland game does not materialize - it is not guaranteed as part of the format although the staff has mentioned they expect to be able to put this together).

Thoughts on likelihood that we see one more series kick off with a road game this season?

They also had two post players sitting out last season that transferred from Michigan and VCU.

Fgcu is definitely a nice add. Better than swac teams for sure. Better than the mvc teams for that matter as well.

Yes! We need to play more schools like FGCU. Reward the lower-major and mid-major schools just like we wanted when we were considered mid-major (although some may still consider us that). Gives us a great game and it's always fun to play recent tournament teams. Bring on MTSU and SFA as well.

Looks like both of their new big's averaged 10+ minutes a game. That'll help their front line. It will be a tough game.
