                Landry Shamet - 1st team
                Markis McDuffie - 2nd team
Shaq Morris and Conner Frankamp - Honorable Mention

All-Defensive Team: Zach Brown, Markis McDuffie and Rashard Kelly
Defensive Player of the Year: Zach Brown

Freshman of the Year: Landy Shamet

Coach of the Year: Gregg Marshall

Pretty sure we won't get 3 players on the All-Defensive Team. May not get 2. Also doubt that 3G will get coach of the year even though the Shocks were the only team to lose 2 NBA players from last year. If Illinois State and the Shocks tie for the Valley regular season title my guess is Dirty Dan will be the man for the Valley voters.

Landry, Conner, Shaq and Markis all deserve to be on the 1st or 2nd team in my opinion. It probably won't happen because the league likes to spread the love but with the way we've dominated teams I think they're more than deserving.

The Valley is kind of weird this year. Quite a few good players spread around the league but only two good teams.

The ultimate team is the Shockers and that will tend to hurt them when it comes down to individual awards in a league that 1) doesn't like them, 2) likes to share the wealth and spread post-season honors around as much as possible and 3) where most voters' research and thought probably begins and ends with looking at a list of the leading scorers (and maybe rebounders) on a per game basis.

I think Alize Johnson at MSU will win Newcomer of the Year and that would be hard to argue with.

Surely Landry will be the Freshman of the Year and Zach Brown will be Defensive Player of the Year.

Player of the Year? No clear cut choice there. Paris Lee, Landry Shamet, Jeremy Morgan, Alize Johnson, Milton Doyle and Jaylon Brown could all draw some support.

In Valley play Paris Lee has a 1.8 assist to turnover ratio. Landry's is 3.5 (the only one over a 3 to 1 ratio in Valley play). Unfortunately, probably not something the voters will value very highly.

All of them are on the best team which in a way makes them all on the 1st team.

I just have to question any rating system that puts Willis ahead of Hawkins, Doyle, and Shamet. Willis puts up ridiculous stats when he plays, but so does the guy he's guarding.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I think that Shamet is clearly FOY. Only competition is Brown at Bradley. Lots of potential DPOYs. Zach, Lee, Wills, Church, Bol, Morgan.

POY is probably going to be Paris Lee, and there's really good argument for that. He's going to be tough to beat out.

Unfortunately, MVP equates to "who could you least afford to loose". When your team is 10-11 deep with quality players with a good number of key players, you lose a lot less than teams who struggle to have a 7 man rotation with 1-3 key players.

How good, or bad, would different Valley teams be if that key player went down. Doyle for Loyola, Paris for ILS, Johnson for MSU, and so on.

What if WSU didn't have Shamet? Would they be as good? No, but how much that would hurt the team with Frankamp, Smith, Reaves, and Keyser. I would say not nearly as much as the other examples I gave.

If you took the MVP off each team in the Valley and played an 18 game schedule, what do you think would happen? You think the Valley standing are lopsided sided now!
