  • I mean. ISU completely choked that game away. They just happened to be playing a Lusk team.

OK, we have 2 pages of comments with no game score here. It sounds like IL State lucked out and won.

I believe neither team actually scored in the last 1 1/2 minutes of the game.

ISU up 1 with 7 seconds left. Church misses 2 FT, ISU rebounds, gets fouled. misses the front end of the 1 and 1. MSU gets a fast break with an open lane to the rim and instead does a skip pass for a 3 that they miss. ISU wins by 1

              • I think Illinois State is the second best team in this league.

                ... No really, deuces.

Mo State was shooting free throws down 1 point and they missed both. They foul ISU on the rebound, ISU misses the front end with 5 sec left, MSU gets it down the court 2 on 1 and shoot a 3 pointer and lose.

                  • Coaches are dumb. You are down three and the other team isn't in the double bonus... by possessions and foul

One MSU poster is claiming the Bears are as good as the Redbirds. Only difference is the Bears are 6-9 in Valley play.

                      Okay.

                      • As bad as it feels to see the jailbirds win, I think it is for the best since I could very well see them losing to UNI twice, and they are our big win. Do they have to take a probation officer with them when they go out of state?

                          Okay.
I agree with your take. But they have played 80 minutes against ISU at -1.

ESPN box shows them 8-15 from the line for the game. Obediah Church (53% on the season) 0-4, Dequon Miller (72% but maybe starting to show the effect of having to play 35 minutes a game) was 1-3. That's not much different from their work at WSU (Church 0-2, Miller 2-4), but the bottom line is that 8-15 will help you lose a close game you should have won, and it did.

Between this and the dazzling work of the UNIs, I think we can say without much doubt that the Valley is a bad league this year. Two quality teams, and a puddle of eight. At this point, the Jailbirds would seem to be hard pressed to lose until their finale in beautiful Cedar Falls, so WSU just needs to take care of business and then see what UNI has in mind. Will they pick their potential semifinal opponent in St. Louis by beating IllSt (will Janssen be there calling the flops?), so as to knock them down to second and set up another game against them a week later? (Of course, theoretically they could do much the same thing in Wichita this Saturday -- but winning here against a better team is probably more to ask than winning at home over the guys in the orange jumpsuits.)

                            • If Drake can beat Mo St, they will be tied with 6 wins and Drake will own the tiebreak after the season sweep. Both play Bradley, and MSU has WSU. Drake has LUC. A good chance for Lisk to play on Drake night and Drake to come to the party on Friday. That would spell the end for Lusk.

                              • The way MSU played last night, I don't want to go to Springfield. That may be a really tough game. You lose by 1 at home to one of the top two teams in the league and a week later have the other top team in your house. That game with Ill State was a confidence builder for MSU. MSU thinking: If we came that close with one, we just may be able to actually beat the other.

And before that we have UNI (always a wild card) and EVille. Did I overlook it or is the EVille game not being televised?
