Drake may be playing better, but that are still in the 300's in RPI. They are the lone dark spot in the league.

Yes, BUT in the past few years Bradley would also be in the 300s and SIU would be damn close.

The MVC is the 12th ranked league at the moment behind the Colonial which includes such team's as Elon, Towson, Hofstra, and Delaware. The bottom of the MVC is nothing but one big collective boat anchor.

All leagues after about 8 have bad back halfs. Towson and Elon are actually top half of the NCAA. UNC-Wilmington is better than every MVC team.

Oh, I agree with that. There has definitely been an improvement in the bottom 1/3 of the league. The league has had a couple teams jump from the "Total Garbage" category to the "We still aren't good, but at least we are better than most SWAC teams now." I think the problem with the MVC this year is there is no second tier teams. Normally the league has a couple decent teams right behind the contenders (think ISUr and Evansville last year). There is no second tier this season. It goes straight from the contenders (WSU and ISUr) to mediocrity. There may be way more mediocrity than years past, but that doesn't help us with quality wins...

It seems so weird that this thread is only 3 pages long this season.

Well, what would you expect right now? Everybody getting excited about 80 RPIs?
                  Deuces Valley.
                  ... No really, deuces.

Well, hmmm. We've had lots of years in a row when we all could hardly wait to see the new weeks rankings. I was conditioned to that, so to me at least, it seems weird not to be worried about the rankings.

I'm glad the NCAA is finally starting to figure out that their metric just isn't that good.

In WSU's case, our RPI is the textbook example of a statistical outlier.

There's a website some may have not heard of, called masseyratings.com. They keep a "composite" page that keeps track of roughly 60 different metrics - human and computer. As of right now, WSU's RPI has the largest deviation from mean or median out of all the metrics available. Our median via all human and computer polls is 31, FWIW.

It will be interesting to see if the other metrics will truly be used. I mean, they "say" they will this year, but then I remember the ever changing rules of officiating over the last few years. If they are going to be using these newer metrics, we are all the sudden a strong lock for an at-large, even with an RPI of 72. I just don't believe they really will look at it like they say they will.

I heard that they'd use it next year, not this year. That's what Kennedy said
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

They've always said they use the "eye test". One has to stretch their limits to say this team doesn't pass the eye test most of the time.

Certainly passed the eye test against OU, LSU, CSU, TU, and even MSU and UL.
