As a fan, is there really anything wrong with overlooking a game (or team) or two in order to look to a different game that you'd rather think/talk about? Sure there's always a chance of being disappointed if those games don't go the way we'd hoped, but I'm REALLLY looking forward to the Redbirds game and think it's the most important game of the year right now. I'm sure 3G and the boys think this weekends game is the most important and then the next one. That's their "job."
Hit the nail on the head. Who cares if we as fans look to other games? We're not playing/coaching.

Even then, from what Marshall has said publicly, our team rarely works on stuff a game ahead unless it's a situation like Atlantis or possibly the 2 games in 3 days from SCSU and LBSU. And definitely not in conference. So I'd be hard pressed to believe our staff or players are guilty of that.

On a side note, I'm worried about the game @ Loyola. Obviously, we're the better team, but they present some matchup problems and can shoot the cover off the ball if they get hot.

My "reply" was more of an addition. No intentions, otherwise.

Truth of the matter is that we already have a pretty good idea, at this point of the season, what our RPI will look like depending on certain outcomes. We win out the regular season, it's something like 37. Lose to ISUr, 46. Beat ISUr, but lose to Loyola, 40. Lose to both, about 55 which is higher than it is now, about 68.

What out RPI is now is only a starting point to where it should be or could be by the end of the regular season. While our current RPI could drop after beating BU or DU, those wins will improve our end of season RPI from where it is at this very point.

Wow. So, sorry. Didn't know this was a thread for discussion whom I'm REALLLY looking forward to playing. I thought it was about "rankings" and things like "SOS" and how our future schedule plays into that. I also thought that was what @Jhook89: was talking about.

Chill man. Nothing to be sorry for. I've just seen a lot of these lately here and other places and wondered who they were directed towards, who it is that "cannot overlook anyone". That's it. Wasn't trying to personally attack you. Apologies if it came across that way.

Haven't looked at Sagrin in years. Do I understand correctly that there are probabilities for even worse finishes over the last 9 games, but not shown, or am I misinterpreting what this represents?

Those should be the odds that we finish at least that well if I understand correctly.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

                  • I feel like the game at Evansville was a wake up call to our guys. They thought they could go through the motions and win that game and found themselves having to scratch and claw their way out of it. Since then, they've been a lot more focused. MSU is a little concerning just because we haven't played them yet and they are a different team than last year. Other than that unknown factor, I really think we'll run the table. 3G will have them ready for the 2nd games against Loyola and ISUr.

For Wsu/ISUR finishing worse than the probabilities listed is ~<1%. They are not listed because although they are still greater than 0%, they are not very meaningful.

                      • IIRC...doesn't MSU have some decent height? And iirc...one of them is a jumping jack with high energy. A good raucous crowd in Sprinfield should give us a really tough game. That one game there has got me worried for another Valley loss along with maybe one more along the way. Hope I'm wrong.

                        • No more Valley losses. We win out from here and go to the NCAA tournament with a record of 30-4 and a seed line of ten or better. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! :) :) :)

I'll certainly be ecstatic if that happens. And it certainly is doable. Shockers need to stay focused. Members of this board as well! One game at a time!! (Sorry, got carried away)

MSU has a several good players. Alize Johnson is a high energy - first team MVC player. They still have Paul Lusk for their coach and we still have Gregg Marshall. Rest well my friend
