The attitude of "my generation had to walk in the snow uphill both ways!" just makes our fanbase seem out of touch, and isn't going to encourage student involvement.

And, just so that you don't continue to rely on a bad argument, the $80 paid to get season tickets came at a time when tuition was 1/3 the price it is now. And even though students get season tickets "free" now, they're paying $1400 in student fees to get those tickets. Personally, I think that's all the more reason to take advantage of the perk, but don't act like it's cheaper to be a Wichita State fan now.

I predict that Tulsa makes it closer than people think. Sure JSU beat them and that was a shock. I am friends with one of the Tulsa assistants and he told me that he really liked their team when I bumped into him this summer. It'd be kinda cool if Frank Haith and Gregg got into it. They are both angry and fiery little people. That would add something to what would appear to be a pedestrian game otherwise.

GTFO equating Haith and Marshall. Nothing little about 3G and Haith is a POS.
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

Implying that each student at WSU is charged $1,400 in fees for tickets is asinine. You might also look into a concept called "inflation." More expensive - but not as big a gap as you're imagining.

Look, I don't give a crap if students come to Shockernet. This space is for Shocker fans. If you have something to add to the discussion, your age is irrelevant.

I do care if students come to the games. If it helps to get them there, let me amend my initial remarks to include the following closing line "Pretty please. With sugar on top. Use the easily obtainable information I've provided and get the effing free tickets."

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

AP Coach of the Year 2012 versus AP Coach of the Year 2014. And both are a whole lot shorter than I am. So...

Doesn't seem to make any difference whether we are winning or losing as it unfortunately seems there will always be complaints about student attendance; that they are not yelling loud enough; or the regular fans are not screaming their heads off; that fans are leaving too early; that people aren't standing; that the refs are out to get us, etc.

Perhaps, just perhaps, there are one hell of a lot of more important things that we, as fans, can take great pride and even joy in. Like the outstanding brand of basketball and the success our program has achieved for well over a decade. And, just as important, that the future looks exceptionally bright ahead.

You've probably never seen Gregg in person but he ain't little.

Too many stupid replies to group into one post and I'm bad at doing it from my phone. Jesus Christ stop acting like the only thing a student has going on in their life is wsu basketball.

Literally the only thing anyone said was that perhaps the school should promote their team more to students. What a crazy idea. Why not include pick up dates in the weekly Shocker Blast emails? They didn't even send an email with the original pick up dates when it was announced. All of those things can happen, but they don't.

Lay off the students a little, I sit in the "grumpy old bastards" section, and a lot of those were empty too. On a lighter note, is anyone going to the Colorado State game?

Someday in the not-too-distant future you will look back at the disposable time you had as a college student and weep.

The majority of the non-students at the game have far more choices, challenges and compromises to make in order to get to every game, yet there they sit.
