WSU versus Tulsa Predictions and Pregame Discussions
This is simply sad. You are blaming the school for not letting the students know when they can get their free tickets to the hottest show on campus. Make a phone call, stop by, ask a buddy, etc. It is absolutely no one's fault but the student's. If they want to go, they will find the tickets. Apathy, lack of initiative and entitled it appears to those on the outside. I applaud you for taking the initiative to call. It is obviously too hard for others.
You act like students don't have anything else going on in their lives that make it hard to seek out tickets when the information isn't readily available. It's the end of the semester. We are busy. So, yes, some of this IS on the school.

I am not going down this path. You are on a discussion board.......QED.

Unbelievable. Should they hold your hand all the way to your seat?
"When the University of Tulsa visited Wichita State two seasons ago, only one player on this year’s Golden Hurricane basketball team scored in that game. The player, of course, was wearing a Shocker uniform then. Guard Corey Henderson Jr., a transfer by way of junior college, hit his only shot attempt — a 3-pointer — in the Shockers’ win in the 2014 meeting. Forward TK Edogi also played four minutes off the bench. Otherwise, the current TU team has been entirely revamped in a short period of time, having replaced nine players who graduated after last season..."

Here, princess. Took me less than 2 minutes to find all the release dates.
You may have to work to scroll to the bottom of the page where the dates are listed, so eat a power bar or have an energy drink first.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”
Wow... and we wonder why student attendance is low at games. Maybe part of it has to do with the way we treat WSU students when they come and post on the board...

Many of us here paid $80 for student season tickets to watch shitty basketball teams when we were at WSU. Today's students get them free -- plus have a student org that gives them free gear for attending -- all in a vain attempt to entice students to walk 70 feet down the hill from Shocker Hall and watch a freaking juggernaut of a program beat teams into paste. It just blows my mind.
With very few exceptions, there are student tickets available for every game. There was an article about it in the Sunflower recently.
As Wichita State men’s basketball team has increased its success with five straight NCAA Tournament appearances, the number of WSU students attending has decreased since. Russell Wilkins, associate athletic director for marketing and tickets, said the university sells its excess, unused, student tickets. “We used to have lines camped out to buy tickets,” Wilkins said....
As Wichita State athletics continues its success of national prominence, the same cannot be said about the student body that surrounds them. Sections 116 and 117 are constantly filled with empty seats — even for men’s basketball games. Are students too depressed about not having football playing at Cessna Stadium or do they not think...

Maybe you are right JD, so let's get them some Orange slices and a parcipitation trophy and call it good!

Sure, it'd be great to have a filled student section every week. That's a dead horse that we should probably keep beating. My point was that we shouldn't be so quick to insult student members. The attitude of "my generation had to walk in the snow uphill both ways!" just makes our fanbase seem out of touch, and isn't going to encourage student involvement.
And, just so that you don't continue to rely on a bad argument, the $80 paid to get season tickets came at a time when tuition was 1/3 the price it is now. And even though students get season tickets "free" now, they're paying $1400 in student fees to get those tickets. Personally, I think that's all the more reason to take advantage of the perk, but don't act like it's cheaper to be a Wichita State fan now.
