KenPom has us at five losses with only three of the games having WSU with less than 70% odds of winning, and those are 58%, 66% and 66%. I surely hope they're closer to right than JH4P

What are you talking about? I didn't make any "odds of winning games" predictions here, so how can you compare me to KenPom's odds?

But in the world of college and even pro sports, teams are beaten by teams all the time that they shouldn't. When I coached, one of the things I used to evaluate our season was by answering the question "Did we win the games we should have?" That's one of Ggg's strengths is that he has built a culture where the past 4 years they have won the games they should. His teams are high character teams and his teams don't like to lose, therefore they are mature and always ready to compete. When Gregg first came to WSU, he sometimes would not be happy with their practice. Now you don't hear that comment because the expectation is that they. compete everyday, every play, every possession.

We were not ready to play against Evansville in the Final 4 year and we were not ready to play SIU during the other year. Although it may happen again, we have not lost focus for an epic fail in the past 4 years. There are games we could lose this year, and we may not know who those good teams are right now. However, we should not lose a HOME game to a sub 500 lower division MVC team. Games on the road, maybe but not at home.
By the way, Evansville was not a sub 500 MVC team. I think they were In the Top 3-4 teams so they would not apply to my point.

The last eligible year, prior to probation, WSU had 2 top 10 1st round draft picks and couldn't win the Valley post season. Dickie V covered the game babeee.

It was tough to win even then. I guess I'm one of the few who gives the Valley some credit. Bill Self does too...

I distinctly remember an opinion of that era being "How good are the Sycamores really? We don't know because they play in the Valley." So it wasn't that much different. Louisville had left, just like the bluejays did several years ago.

The best the Valley has to offer has been questioned as far back as then.

If it was so easy to win a Valley post-season, I'm guessing we would have won more by now?

This team will take care of business better than that team during the year imo. I remember that team losing a home conference home game at Koch Arena to a sub 500 SIU team. We should never lose a home game to a below average MVC team and this team won't. Otherwise there are some similarities between the two teams. Both are deep teams. We don't have a shooter as good as Ragland but we have more good shooters. Landry is very similar to Toure except he is a better perimeter shooter. This team is younger and imo overall has more athletic players. Willis is longer than Gabe was and has a very high ceiling. He will be a very good shot blocker, as is Shaq, and Duff will continue to grow as a shot blocker too.

McDuffie career 44.9% FG and 33.7% from three

Markis fresh/soph years compare not unfavorably with Rags junior/senior years, while Smith (so far) > Rags junior year and Reaves (so far) > Rags any year.

I never predicted the loss total, only what would result *given* a particular loss total that someone else had mentioned.

I see the misunderstanding. You thought I was predicting 6 losses. I wasn't. The topic of 6 losses had already been brought up, and I was just commenting that 6 regular season losses and WSU's at-large chances are gone.

In JH4P's defense, I didn't read that particular post as a prediction of how many losses we'd have. I read it as a prediction of what would happen IF we had that many losses. The "bleak" comment was in reference to our SOS, not the team's performance.
