Sure there is. The excuse is making money off of an opposing team's fans because your team's fans won't sell the place out.

It's just not a very good excuse.

You'd think OU would want to do whatever they could to entice WSU sales, based on their putrid MBB support. Revenue maximization and all.

Eh .. the only people making real money on this game seem to be ticketmaster ... the tickets that were available were really cheap. The 38 dollar ones didn't even show up on ticket master and the ones they gave WSU were 19 ...

Since I live in OKC, I was planning to go down to the box office when I got off work to buy tickets and avoid those TERRIBLE fees. (I'm with @SHOCKvalue: that the fees are atrocious). But since Ticketmaster is being weird, I'm wondering if I'll be able to even buy lower bowl seats if I don't show some kind of OU season ticket holder identification or something. I guess I'll find out...

Our ticket office also put their allotment of 300 tickets on sale at 8:30 this morning. Shitty to find out, but I think the moral of the story here is F*** the Sooners.

After thinking about it, I'm wondering if the weirdness we're seeing is related to some sort of first dibs setup for Thunder season ticket holders. Meaning there will possibly thousands of seats - and great ones at that - available in a few weeks when their first right of refusal window expires.

Something similar to this exists at Intrust for the WSU game in the context of Thunder hockey fans (as hilarious as that sounds).

I called the ticket office at....10:15? this morning, was asked my name and other info (I assume verifying active SASO member) and was told I could purchase the same number of tickets as I have season tickets. My credit card has been charged. I was not informed of a waiting list. I would say it was first come first served. And yes, there were no details other than lower bowl and $19ea. No fees* :-p

My guess is that the process evolved as they started getting more and more calls once people saw the tickets on ticketmaster.

My guess is that quite a few Wichita State fans will be effectively paying for the season ticket package of a few OU fans who sell their lower bowl tickets for $150+ a piece.

This game is titled "All-College Classic". Quick Google Search and found OKC's version of the Greater Wichita Sport's Commission is putting on the game. Their members are given lower bowl seats. I'd assume they are holding large quantity of tickets for their members. Costs $375 to join, so I won't be going that route.

18,203 seats for a basketball game and 300 level tickets are the only ones available?

                              lol, wow.

Depending on the tenacity of ushers, looks like there may be a lot of opportunity to move down if you buy upper bowl.

18,203 tickets ... with a historical number of ~6k attendees, and a visiting team that is within driving distance that travels very very well ... and you only allocate 300 tickets for them plus some horrible upper seats? Do they not want money?
